18. Actually, that quote is attributable to Joel Barlow |
|
the author of the Treaty of Tripoli. President John Adams signed the treaty and proclaimed it to the nation on 10 June 1797, "Now be it known, That I John Adams, President of the United States of America, having seen and considered the said Treaty do, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, accept, ratify, and confirm the same, and every clause and article thereof. And to the End that the said Treaty may be observed and performed with good Faith on the part of the United States, I have ordered the premises to be made public; And I do hereby enjoin and require all persons bearing office civil or military within the United States, and all other citizens or inhabitants thereof, faithfully to observe and fulfill the said Treaty and every clause and article thereof."

state is based more on christianity than America and that is about as secular as they come.
Geobells once said that if you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth.
"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give the appearence of solidity to pure wind" George Orwell

10. These people wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the ground! |
|
Anybody who has studied ANYTHING on the founders of our nation know that they were products of the Enlightenment. That was that period of about 200-300 years ago in which science and reason were actually promoted as an alternative to theocracy and ignorance, the mirror opposite of today.
These people and their willful ignorance make me just want to fucking SCREAM!!!!

Why don't some experts mention the Enlightenment more to counter this? I have a psych degree and I know of the Enlightenment. Sheesh, then again, psych folks now want to put Christianity into therapy. http://www.apa.org/books/4316036.html

meant to turn Amurika away from Jesus and toward Satan and Godless communism. Plus, weren't the French involved in that? Anything French, we all know, is un-Amurikan.
Amurika has always been a Christian nation, no matter what anybody said about it otherwise.

17. Mendel's Laws taught at Germany Zoo and America can't |
|
even teach science in her schools without some dumb ass complaining.
At the Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany, there is a display-complete with white and black mice (and a breeding program in action)-to explain who Gregor Mendel was and what his laws meant.
I sat in front of this "mice" display so long, one other zoo-goer opined "she must really like mice" (another American tourist)
No...I was just amazed. My own country, America...what a sad state it is in...and here I was at a zoo in a country where science is embraced... where science is considered natural... where it's considered normal. Where science is acceptable.

21. which is what almost all western nations are based on |
|
America isn't the exceptional special country we often make it out to be.
All the basis, and values that our country are based on is from European enlightenment thought, and most european countries are based on the same. We didn't invent democracy and freedom.
In fact i bet the repugs would love to deny that our constitution is was based on the french constitution.

20. They keep saying it, but that in no way makes it true. |

I wonder... Do the Christians pushing this "Intelligent Desgin" crap ever consider that I don't wish to have my children taught their religious beliefs? I don't want my children taught their Christian beliefs anymore than they would want their children taught my Pagan beliefs.
I think they should stop for a few minutes and truly consider the Pandora's Box before them.
