Keith O. comes through - again. Doing segment on ousted
Democratic church members in North Carolina tonight. I haven't seen this story on any other network (granted I'm not watching much MSM anymore) but Olbermann's daily email update on tonight's show states they are going to discuss the issue -

"Yesterday, on the National Day of Prayer, we learned that the East Waynesville Baptist Church in North Carolina essentially kicked out its Democratic members. Nine members were "excommunicated" and 40 other members of the 405 member church resigned in protest." (Daily KOS http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/5/6/84353/67437

Another hip, hip hooray for the only real newscaster left in the business. (Jon's our favorite fake, real newsman.)

5. The tax-exempt status
of this church needs to be seriously reviewed. How do we make formal complaints to the IRS?

6. Wonder who Keith will find to argue the church's position?
I'm thinking Falwell, Robertson, Donohue, Dobson or Satan (thinking Satan maybe be one of the aforementioned - doesn't the bible say something about the devil masquerading as a "human" on earth?). They all seem to have plenty of time on their hands for TV appearances lately to stir up sh*t.

I don't believe in heaven or hell but I sure do wish there is a fiery furnace somewhere here on earth that would snatch that bunch of Taliban evildoing religious zealots (did ya ever think that there we actual "religious" people here in the US that come make the Taliban look reasonable and sane?) up and dispose of them in a way they so richly deserve. Or a bolt of lightning, meteorite, fissure in the earth crack open suck them in, a hurricane, tornado, hell, I'd settle for a bad batch of Kool Aid - anything to shut these hatemongers up.

I can't begin to see how any person of faith could defend this nonsense, it is against everything the bible dictates for believers.

13. No, those guys will feign shock
and say something like each congregation can make up their own minds about how to run their church, but they don't condone it. (Like when Bush said he didn't condone the Swifties) that is their MO anyway....

10. Thanks
I think the news story itself gives them what they need to start. I believe that the tax-exempt status of a church is subject to forfeit if they endorse specific political candidates. If this isn't a violation, then nothing is.

12. If there was ever a time that East Waynesville wanted to be put on a map..
This is that time, but it's not shown on a negative light.
