Specter on ANWR & Social Security
If anybody is interested I have posted the texts of two response emails I got from Arlen Specter (my lesser of two evil Repug Senators from PA) on ANWR & Social Security in my humble blog. I have gotten some letter responses from Santorum that I plan to type soon on a couple different issues.

Both emails came about a month after I sent them, but something is better than nothing, I guess. I don't quite know what to make of the ANWR answer and I think there may be a glimmer of hope on Social Security. Feel free to post a comment at my blog or chat here.

Here are the links...just thought I'd share and sorry if this is in the wrong place:eyes:

1. I was very disappointed when he voted for drilling in ANWR.
I hope that he will listen to Pennsylvanians when it comes to Social Security. Lil' Ricky chose the wrong path to follow on that one--he got boos and cat calls at his town meetings here in Pittsburgh.

2. How is his health?
Will he be able to fulfill his term? If not, who will Rendell replace him with?

3. I haven't seen anything lately...
if you catch him on CSPAN for Senate business he's lost almost all of his hair and looks awfully pale. On the other hand, it seems as though he's at least in good spirits, always making fun of his appearance and things like that.

Regarding if he weren't able to fill his term and who Rendell would replace him with, here is what I remember from a rumors list at Pittsburg Live...

Bob Casey, Jr. (unless they really want him against Santorum and Specter retires before Nov. 2006)

Majorie Rendell (Rendell's wife who is a US District Judge on the 10th Circuit, Clinton appointee)

Barbara Hafer (Repub turned Dem state treasurer who Rendell had floated as a Santorum opponent)

The rumor list also gave an idea of who the Repubs might run in a special election and that included Tom Ridge and Melissa Hart (in fear of her getting kicked out of office by an eventual and highly presumed run by Chris Heinz).

4. He is still going through chemotherapy.
I've seen pictures of him lately. He looks like he is ill, but actually looks like he is holding up fairly well.

So far he has been able to keep up with his job in the Senate and as head of the Judiciary Committee.

As for who would Rendell replace him with, that's a VERY good question. No one seems to be saying anything.
