PBS is to be "cleansed. " The next one will be The History Channel. This
morning they had a historian discussing terrorism. In a sentence, he said the Bush people paid the least attention to terrorism than any other administration. Daddy Bush and Clinton realized the importance of it. He went back all the way to Ike and Reagan. George the Lesser is the worst.

Poor History Channel. It was fun while it lasted.

The sad part of all this is how much we all - me included - accept this as inevitable.

The History Channel went a LONG time ago...
This guy must have slipped through the cracks. I stopped watching HC when they were the premier drum-beaters in the lead-up to war. Every night they would have 2-4 shows calls 'Saddam's Torture Chambers', Saddam's Bomb Makers', 'Saddam's Nun Beaters' and other shows to show how much of a bad guy he was. This was propaganda on a grand scale! I just can't watch them any more.

1. They're Going For The Faux Nuts
With O'Reilly and CNNServative's ratings sinking, this channels been trying to cash in with revisionist, feel-good shows like the one that features the fascist drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket and endless replays of how we kicked Germany's ass in World War II.

I shut off most of that garbage, since there still are good programs that do seem to be "fair and balanced". I have this channel on during the day instead of the cable news blather most days. And if History Channel is blowing some jingoistic smoke, I pop over to History International that featured a lot of great international stuff.

Recently I had a cable glitch...the History Channel got screwed up and the Japanese bombed Gettysburg. :spray:

2. The great lie is that PBS is a liberal left wing front
Anyone with any time on their hands should just peruse the TV Guide and look at all PBS shows. I've always been suspicious of the cooking shows. Only one or two BBQ shows? Definitely a plot against the Red States. And we all know about tolerance friendly Sesame Street. Don't we? A veiled threat against the nuclear family. Nova? Secular science. Frontline? Lefties who hate America. It is a laugh what the right complains about. Did they complain about the award winning "Miracle of Life" where they had first time photography inside the womb from conception to birth? Nah. Do they complain about American Experience, a great show that espouses all things great from this country. Nah. Shakespeare, Live from Lincoln Center, the Met, Boston Pops, Masterpiece Theater, toons, education, and everything under the sun. Do they cry about these? Nah. But that Now show. That's the ticket. You see that show. That explains it all. What a bunch of morans.

3. We call it the Hitler Channel.
There is a show about Hitler/WWII every day.

Last night (late) there was a PBS show about 9-11 that had seemingly hours of interviews with republicans and news reporters who were on Air Force One that day. For some reason, they devoted vast amounts of air time to interviewing Lynn Cheney. I don't know why. She had absolutely nothing to do with any descisions made on that day. She's just a freaking political wife. Geez.
