Question of the day;
If you and only you knew that the economy was going to crash utterly in two days/48 hours, what would you do with whatever money you had?

(Let's assume sub-millionaire status)

5. *absent whistling* .....
No, just curious.

I hear 'run up the credit cards' is a good one.

That and making sure that in the next 36 some-odd hours you've got a a pair of PSS's on hand.

2. I'd get a big ass loan
& buy an isolated place in the country to hole up. The economy would crash & I'd not have to pay it back.

My money would be used (for what it'd be worth) to sustain myself as long as possible.

4. Depends
How long are cashier's checks valid? If it's forever, I'd get all my money out of the checking account and CDs, put them in cashier checks and hide them till things are back to normal.

Otherwise, leave it in place and worry about tyranny since it'd be blamed on liberals.

6. They'd devalue with the dollar...
Either convert currency or use it to purchase would seem to be the way to go.

What items would you buy?

7. Simple
A rifle and a pistol with plenty of ammo. Camping gear. Rations and plenty of them. A good hunting knife or a great combat knife. Camo clothing with hiking boots. A portable radio and some batteries. A survival guide, first aid stuff, Army medics' guides, and fair trade organic coffee for those long nights of wearing the tin foil hat.

Yes, I can be paranoid at times.

16. got all that
Have replaced pistol/ammo with hunting bow and arrows. Garden, greenhouse,
knives, fishing gear, intense-cold gear, and whiskey for those long
nights. Now that you mention it, i'm gonna upgrade the fishing gear
and a new peet cutting turf knife and tusk. Then, if it all goes pear
shaped, i'll cut me own peet and use that to heat the house and cook.

A proper filter to keep nuclear fallout particles out of surface
drinking water might not be such a bad thing either. I figured i could
make one out of fabric, but likely its better to invest in the real deal.

10. Run the bank and withdraw everything i could
And invest it ALL in giant carloads of whiskey. Bottles of whiskey
retain their value and last forever, even in a post-cash barter
economy. Worst case, i'd be a big whiskey seller on ebay to recover
me cash. :-)
