1. I think it begins Tuesday, and the vote is Thursday.
I haven't heard for sure if cspan is going to cover it this time or not. I'm hoping they do. I watched all of their meetings last time, and the way the diff. Sens ask their questions really tells you a lot, not only about what side they're on, but who and what kind of person they are.

5. I watched the last round also and cannot believe
the Dems will cave on this as they were so passionately against Bolton. I hope they have a few rabbits to pull out of their hat!

10. Did you happen to see Santorum on the late panel?
He's really the one I was talking about when I said their questioning and demeanor tell you a lot about what kind of a person they are. He was a real AH that day!

6. I don't see Biden backing down unless he thinks
it's a lost cause. If that's the case, we're screwed.

9. I just want one senator to stand up and say
Edited on Mon May-09-05 11:40 AM by sui generis
"How Bad Does An Appointee Have to Be For Republicans to Agree That He Shouldn't BE the Appointee!"

Really. Does the guy need to show up with a suitcase of kiddie porn, a dead baby duck on his wanker and a needle in his arm? Maybe they'd pass that appointee too.

Really. How bad and disgusting does he have to be? Is there a limit?

11. I don't think you understand some of the Pubs!
I have heard many of them say they realize Bolton is a real hard a**, but that's what they want in the UN! They don't like the UN because they didn't roll over and play dead for Shrub's war plan, so they WANT Bolton aand his HA personality in that job.

I hapen to think American needs the exact opposit. I think we need a good diplomat to repair the damage Shrub did to the image of America all over the world, but it seems the bottom line is that they do understand wht Bolton is like, and that's exactly what they want!!!

12. oh I understand
it's the same logic for their judicial nominees. They can do no wrong. Being an asshole is besides the point, it's whether you're qualified to do the job that matters, and he's not.

We really do need to ask this question often. How bad does he have to be? How unqualified, how incompetent, how inappropriate does he have to be? Is there anything that's too vile for a republican to shoo in?
