1. My brother-in-law, before he passed, was a SO. Baptist music minister. |
|
He came right out and told me that Democrats aren't welcomed in his church.
I replied that I would want nothing to do with a church that doesn't teach Jesus' message. He and his kind can roll around in the mud while the rest of us continue to treat others with love and compassion the way Jesus did.
It shut him up.
They don't care what we think. They have no interest in comments from us or our thoughts on what we are doing. Until the day he died, my b-i-l was a terrible, angry, hateful person whose own anger and darkness he carried on his heart eventually led to his heart attack at 32 years old. He treated my husband this way all his life and I had no love for this man one way or the other. The only good he did do was to open my eyes to a world of hatred I never realized existed on such a deep, patholoigical level.
These people will be the downfal of themselves. Let them continue kicking people out of their church. Be my guest. It will only make defeating them easier in the next two upcoming elections of 2006 and 2008.

3. I happily share this. People need to know that * and his minions have |
|
torn families apart.
Mr. kt and I received an email from his parents telling us that by not voting for *, we had no morals, no values and they felt sorry for us. HIs dad also said that while Kerry was floating around on boats during Vietnam, he was there, fighting in the Army. I never told my Air Force dad about that military comment- I didn't want a homacide in the family as well.
I really don't speak to my in-laws. Mr. kt does some, but it's no more than once every three weeks or so. We tak to my family every day. I basically bring a book to read and ignore his parents completly when we do have to see them.
On one such wonderful visit, we ended up at the mall. In a department store, Mr. kt and his dad found the restoom. His mother was rattling on about some Christmas program her church was doing and she was in. Then she said she needed comfotable shoes that didn't look like lesbian shoes. The faster I walked away from her, the quicker she followed me. People were staring.
I said "lesbian shoes?
"You know, the kind of shoes they wear."
"They"
"Those lesbians."
"Well, I was unaware that lesbians wear different shoes. I"ll be sure to call our lesbian friends and ask about their shoes."
"Well, I don't want those shoes."
"No, we wouldn't ever want you confused with any thing lesbian... or tasteful either, would we?"
I just walked off and waited for Mr. kt. I really haven't said more than 10 words to either one of them since. That happened last November at Thanksgiving.
However, my own parents are really interested in what lesbian shoes are. My Dad keeps meaning to ask his supervisor at work.
Any lesbians here know? :eyes:
If I could go back, I think I would just cut off the whole conversation by declaring "When we're in public, I would appreciate it if you did not include me in your rebid homophobia and hatred. I wouldn't want anyone to mix me up with those kids of hate comments." And walk away. And not look back.

6. Now, you guys have made me laugh. |
|
Mr. Maat and I have been together 28 years, 21 of them married.
It was my family that was mean, and we didn't have much contact with them.
His parents were always nice.
Then THEY moved back to the midwest, following his sister and her husband, and became Southern Baptists. Now ... I let Mr. Maat handle them.
I'm close to my sister, her husband and their daughter.

8. I never even bother to ask. I'm afraid I'll hear the answer. |

Her husband works with Native Americans. There are some sacred things that those outside the tribe aren't allowed to participate in. No big deal, right? Well, he was pissed that he, a white man, couldn't be there. Her comment? We don't believe in worshipping trees. What's the big secret?
My comment: Don't ever repeat that outside this house if I'm near you.
My b-i-l's funeral was attended by all the people at my f-i-l's workplace- so, Native Americans and peopleof all faiths- including Muslim, were there. What happends near the end of this service? They do a whole "if you don't believe in the Christian God we worship here at (name of church) you need to come forward now and confess your sins to receive ever lasting life."
It was so offensive. I can not belive people took time off work and were insulted.
I seriously could go on and on. These poeople have provided me wth so many "You won't believe this..." stories.
I just always feel bad for Mr. kt. They have always been and still are a continued source of embaressment.

9. Do they honestly believe... |
|
that their members only have friends and relatives that are of the same religion?
And do they believe that those friends and relatives are there for anything but the funeral service?
Geesh

I mostly wear New Balance and Keds. For dress I might go for something in Naturalizer or Easy Spirit.

I apologize for my MIL. I have to. It's just too much.
I can't believe these people raised Mr. kt. You'd never know it. You would swear he was raised by my family... thank God! Otherwise, we wouldn't be married!
