Are prescription contraceptives free?
I obviously know the answer, but I wanted to raise a point.

In all of the coverage regarding the issue of fundie pharmacists refusing to fill certain prescriptions because of their "moral" beliefs, one voice has been conspicuously silent. Namely, where the hell are the pharmaceutical companies?!?!

Surely they have a problem with people who refuse to sell their products -- don't they? And I don't think the answer is that it's just an inconvenience for the women involved because: (1) Women who live in towns w/o a variety of choices of drug stores won't buy them; and (2) Some women may switch to non-prescription methods of birth control to avoid the hassle.

At some point, the unholy alliance within the GOP between the fundies and the business community is going to crumble -- or at least wither. The faster that it happens, the better. Our side needs to continue making this an issue, specifically by putting the drug companies on the spot.

1. I wondered about this too....
It really suggests that the big pharma corporations are backing away from taking the most greed-based stance on this issue because they want to keep their conservative boot lickers in office, and they recognize that this is a watershed conservative issue.

2. I think you may be right.
But it does give me hope that there may be other issues down the line where the corporate wing of their party realizes that it can't sit back without it costing major money.
