Bill O'Reilly Hemorrhaging Viewers? (Americablog Poster)
Edited on Tue May-10-05 03:43 AM by Hissyspit
Post in open thread by Ryan Neat over at Americablog:

O'Reilly hemorrhaging viewers
Cosmic justice seekers rejoice. A CNN insider made this blessed observation: "FNC should be less concerned with Zahn's performance and more concerned with the fact that O'Reilly continues to hemorrhage viewers month-over-month since October."

"The world-class liar and blow-hard has lost over 30% of his viewers since the election -- over 1 million total."

Maybe some of the 'independent' minded folks are finally tiring of the inconsistently and poorly constructed rhetoric of this moron? We can only hope this is one of the watershed turning points where we divert from the current fascist decline of the democracy...

2. Does this relate to the falafel flack?
Or is Fox in general down in the post-election period?

3. Won't vouch for the accuracy of this...
but supposedly Stephanie Miller's radio show has tripled its ratings while at the same time, O'Reilly's ratings have gone down like a stone. They are not on at the same time, but I still thought it was interesting. If O'Reilly's radio show is losing listeners that fast, then Franken's show must be gaining some of those same listeners, or people are just turning the radio off after Stephanie Miller's show. And the tv ratings are down for O'Reilly as well? Sounds like people are waking up.

4. If any can find real ratings numbers, please post...
Comparative numbers with other shows would be nice, too.

As of Jan, O'Reilly was still the top rated cable news broadcast.

More recent numbers for O'Reilly that shows a decline: October: 3,166,000 / November: 3,080,000 / December: 2,610,000 / January: 2,478,000 / February: 2,391,000 / March: 2,320,000 / April: 2,178,000 / May-to-date: 2,096,000

But Fox still trounces the other cable networks

May 5, 2005 alone. http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2005/05/05/vox-populi-ratings-for-thursday/

In response to this morning's post about Paula Zahn's ratings, a CNN insider says: "FNC should be less concerned with Zahn's performance and more concerned with the fact that O'Reilly continues to hemorrhage viewers month-over-month since October." Here are the monthly averages:

October: 3,166,000 / November: 3,080,000 / December: 2,610,000 / January: 2,478,000 / February: 2,391,000 / March: 2,320,000 / April: 2,178,000 / May-to-date: 2,096,000

5. His sexcipades
probably hurt him from the right flank of his audience.

Doesn't he go head to head with Limbaugh on the radio? What an idiot.

Fake. Yelling and screaming. Pseudo-patriotism.

12. Isn't it interesting that
the first comment on both threads was about falafel.

It's starting to make sense to me why all the intelligent conversation has left this forum and gone over to Kos...

16. I'd much prefer that it be a slow, decisive spiral
...so he can feel the power slipping away, and flail about, desperate to regain his market share, only to be humiliated in the end. Suffer, Vibrator Boy, SUFFER!!!
