Pastor Accused of Running Out Dems Quits By TIM WHITMIRE, Associated Press Writer
Tue May 10, 7:32 PM ET

A Baptist preacher accused of running out nine congregants who refused to support President Bush resigned Tuesday.

"I am resigning with gratitude in my heart for all of you," the Rev. Chan Chandler said as he left a closed-door meeting at East Waynesville Baptist Church.

Congregants of the 100-member church in western North Carolina have said that Chandler endorsed Bush from the pulpit during last year's presidential campaign and said that anyone who planned to vote for Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry needed to "repent or resign."

14. Hey back at ya!
We are fine. Working, teaching the kid (my stepdaughter) how to drive, taking care of the horse, and taking care of the cats. Relaxing Gardening. Watching the Braves. Keeping tabs on the Repub-Facists and the Corporate Media!

We hope to see you at a DU meetup this year! Have a great summer!

3. That will show his partisan ass!
I hope next time a church pulls a stunt like that, they lose their tax-exempt status.

5. I am sure there will be other churches that would want him.
But he's learned his lesson I suppose. It was either be taxed or quit. I am glad he chose to quit, that was wrong what he did. Very unchristian.

6. Good news!
He was not qualified to be a preacher of a respectable religion with his attitude. I am glad he is gone

Every win is a good one these days, no matter how small.
