What's wrong with this idea? What's right with this idea? |

I have often seen DUers talk about wanting to work in politics. I have often felt frustrated myself at how little I can do to effect (or affect?) change.
Why couldn't we establish a monetary fund that pays people a small wage to work for our cause? Imagine thousands of people working full time to get our message out. We could even move people to Washington on a semi-permanent basis precisely for the purpose of surrounding the White House in massive demonstrations (that's what it will take before anything happens, you know?). But I guess mainly we need to send people door to door to change hearts and minds. We gotta get away from our computers ... put some boots on the ground.
Am I just woefully naive here?

1. Better off hiring a lobbyist. In the meantime build an email |

address book and sent periodic emails about what the other side is doing and what we really stand for.
The Republicans are particularly good at this. In the run-up to the elections I was receiving an email every day detailing some imagined atrocity committed by Democrats. Everything from moving SS to the general fund an taxing it (Reagan signed that one into law) to Teresa Hinze Kerry donating to terrorists organizations.
I'm sure that the RNC originated these hate mails and planted them with a network of dupes for forwarding to private address books. We need to do the same, we just don't have to lie about it.
Build your list and if you like I'll put you on mine so you can forward Republican Truth mails.
