Clark entering the race is providing the wedge to separate the Demos in 04. He only entered yesterday and Chris Matthew is already calling him the front runner. Now why would he do this so soon? Does he know something that we don’t? Perhaps he knows that the foundational idea that only a military man could beat Bush has been well vetted in the media and so he assumes it will work. And the “lets get them to fight” has begun on Fox. And I predict we will see it everywhere in the next few weeks The end of this doesn’t depend on who is nominated as much as how many people feel so disgusted and demoralized that they do not vote. Because a large voter turn out would make it very difficult for bush to even steal the vote, and so the job of the media will be to make it appear to as many as possible that it is politics as usual and their vote will not matter. And so lots of fighting and lots of the idea that only a general could beat the flight suit president will be shown to the people on the TV. And we will have more of the notion that Hillary is behind this, wanting the Demos to louse in 04 so she can run in 08. That should make people think that it is no use because it is all scripted anyway. The goal is another term for Bush, the methods of achieving the goal is the control of our minds.

And I know it. But just because I am paranoid dose not make what I said less true. Low voter turn out will get bush another 4 years and that is a fact.

I heard Tweety call him a "top tier candidate" but I sure didn't hear him call Clark the front runner.
I'll be watching the replay, and I'm calling you out if you're wrong!

Clark's getting in the race helps all the candidates. The Dems suffer the overly-intellectual wimp label the GOP has successfully branded them with...but, now, here comes Clark. He injects a little red meat into the race. How can you call this guy a wimp? That all important "NASCAR" male vote is looking at Clark. I'd like to see him as the VP candidate for that reason...drawing votes the Dems don't usually get. But it's like all the fast food franchises building within a couple miles of each other. They know they'll all benefit from the proximity. Whatever you think of Clark, he changes the perception of the what a Dem candidate is. He's a spotlight on Bush's phoniness. All the carefully Rovian build Bush facade begins to crumble next to Clark. Even if the media is attacking Clark, they're giving him attention. And his being in the public eye diminishes Bush. People may not pay close attention to the specifics of the attacks on Clark. But they will begin to get a sense of him as a general. Plus, the guy is very media savvy. Your whole "evil Hillary" scenario with her "wanting the Demos to lose" is truly inventive.

9. Your "lets get them to fight" FOX theory won't work. |
|
I would venture to guess that the few Democrats who watch FOX only do so for a laugh or out of curiosity. Our candidates know this. The average FOX viewer isn't going to vote for a Democrat, period.
As for Tweety...he's a blowhard.
As for mind control, don't include Dems in the "our minds". We may be out of ours, but we can't be controlled and that's a problem for the Bushies.
As for the Hillary plan for a loss so she can run in 08 - they'll probably spin it for all they can and when that doesn't work they will try to pin her with some kind of deal between she and Clark or which ever candidate wins the nomination, who promises not to run in 08. Laughable?

14. Sorry, but I see Clark has being able to unite the party. |
|
Michael Moore supports him. And Tweety, Howard (Whore of 2001) Fineman, and Gerry Nachtman all are pleasantly impressed with him.
Look, we need someone who will be acceptable to all those independents and moderate Republicans who are getting queasy about the Moron Regime but haven't allowed their doubts expression because, in their mind, there's no sane and safe alternative.
Clinton ran down the middle too. He did things that pissed me off--pro-death penalty, welfare reform, backed down on gays in the military. But I ended up loving him, because he cared about the welfare of the people in this country, he was smart, and he knew how to win.

The repugs will vote for Bush no matter what he does. They will line up just like they did last time because they only have power with unity and a low voter turnout. The key to wining in 04 is bringing out the ones that feel it’s all rigged and they would come out to vote for a Demo that they had faith in.

i don't blame Clark for it, but I do think the proliferation of candidates has indeed given the GOP an advantage, in that they can play one camp off against another. We're handing them the ammunition on a silver platter by beating each other up.
Have there been any threads in which the candidates are favorably compared (rather than negatively contrasted) with each other? Are there threads illustrating ways in which Dean people can feel comfortable with Kerry people, or Graham people can find common ground with Kucinich people?
I truly fear that if we don't find common ground other than the ubiquitous ABB, we're in for that disastrous low turn-out and another four years (at least) in bushnazi hell.

There is a lot of common ground between the candidates, that is the sad part. And I don’t blame Clark either, it is the right wing that controls what is being said and talked about.

What's scarier is that it's coming from the left, too, AND from within the DU community. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=364579When someone posts that an individual is unfit to be president, does that imply that the poster couldn't vote for that candidate under any circumstances?

Tweety did not call Clark the front runner.
O'Donnell said Clark will appear as a top run candidate.
Tweety then said: "Is that your bet, Jerry? Will Clark be a front-rank candidate?" (To Jerry Nachman.)
Then Tweety said "He's a challenge to front runners."
SO STOP MAKING THIS STUFF UP, ZEEMIKE! DAMN!

If the RW can imply meaning to what people say then I have the right to do the same. So I say that top ranked and top run means front runner. That is a lot closer than I took the initiative means I invented.

1. Clark didn't enter the race to 'divide the Dems.' He can run if he wants, he is a Democrat, and I'm glad he's there. He's another chance to remove Bush.
2. Anyone who feels 'disgusted and demoralized' by Clark's entry doesn't know fuck-all about politics. The odds of someone's beloved candidate winning the nomination are long, no matter who the candidate is. People need to get a grip.
3. Clark is the front-runner, i.e. the flavor of the week because he just got in and masterfully started a buzz beforehand, and because he has media savvy. We'll see if it lasts, but he is the front-runner right now.

...(because I am a Clark supporter).
What I DO care about is people reporting carefully and not making stuff up. It happens way too often on DU. Nobody on Hardball said Clark is the front runner.
Too many Pugs make stuff up. We ought to be more careful than they are.

Clark did not enter to divide the party, I am just saying what the Repub strategy is and will be. People will not be disgusted and demoralized because of Clark entering the primary but if they perceive that the media just gives it to him because he is a general it will confirm there suspicions that it is all rigged.
