2. The story is slowly gaining momentum
LA Times had a story yesterday and Washington Post published one today. CNN didn't give it much time today but it's better than nothing.

Now, if we can just get Olbermann on the job...

11. I hate it when the sheeple start up with that "overwhelming majority" BS.
Edited on Fri May-13-05 05:16 PM by Hatalles
We need to call them on it EVERY SINGLE TIME. The more and more they're allowed to get away with that BS, the more and more the average American will start to believe it.

3% is not an overwhelming majority! 3% does not constitute a mandate! 3% is called barely eking out a win (and even the "win" part is still in question)! Coming out with 3% in one of the closest elections in our history is not a damn permit to do anything you want!

And this garbage about Bush receiving more popular votes than any other candidate in the history of the US? Well, guess what?! Kerry broke that record too!

Edit: typo

What do you think he (Holt) meant when he ends the segment saying, "I'm sorry." ????

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0505/13/cf.01.html

BEGALA: Well, nearly two weeks ago a previously-secret memo was leaked. It proves that the Bush administration manipulated intelligence to go to war in Iraq. In the memo, written in 2002, the head of British intelligence reported to the prime minister, Tony Blair, some eight months before actually going to war. He wrote this quote, "Bush wanted to remove Saddam Hussein through military action justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD -- weapons of mass destruction -- but the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" unquote.

Intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy, so wrote America's closest ally months before the war. The story finally made the "Washington Post" today on page A-18. Why is this smoking gun reported by Walter Pincus, one the best journalist in the land, winding up on page A-18, proving that President Bush may have lied us into war? Well, I suppose it's because the real news will be if we ever discover proof of Mr. President Bush told the truth about this war, that would be real news.

HOLT: You know, Paul, we talked about this all year last year. It was called the presidential election. The American people didn't buy it. This whole misleading argument that the Democrats have made. The American people re-elected this president overwhelmingly.

BEGALA: What do you think that means? The intelligence and the facts were fixed around the policy.

HOLT: Oh pleased.

BEGALA: I know what it means when my dog is fixed. It ain't very fair deal. The intelligence was fixed built Bush administration.

HOLT: I'm sorry.

20. This is what I am sending to all Senators
I am writing today to implore you to do something about President Bush and his tactics for going to Iraq immediately and stop the use of all depleted uranium weapons.
The memo that was leaked 13 days ago, begs for immediate action against President Bush and his entire Administration.
By Greg Palast

Here it is. The smoking gun. The memo that has "IMPEACH HIM" written all over it.

The top-level government memo marked "SECRET AND STRICTLY PERSONAL," dated eight months before Bush sent us into Iraq, following a closed meeting with the President, reads, "Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam through military action justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Read that again: "The intelligence and facts were being fixed...."

For years, after each damning report on BBC TV, viewers inevitably ask me, "Isn't this grounds for impeachment?" -- vote rigging, a blind eye to terror and the bin Ladens before 9-11, and so on. Evil, stupidity and self-dealing are shameful but not impeachable. What's needed is a "high crime or misdemeanor."

And if this ain't it, nothing is.

The memo uncovered this week by the Times, goes on to describe an elaborate plan by George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to hoodwink the planet into supporting an attack on Iraq knowing full well the evidence for war was a phony.

IRAQ: PRIME MINISTER'S MEETING, 23 JULY

Copy addressees and you met the Prime Minister on 23 July to discuss Iraq.

This record is extremely sensitive. No further copies should be made. It should be shown only to those with a genuine need to know its contents.

John Scarlett summarised the intelligence and latest JIC assessment. Saddam's regime was tough and based on extreme fear. The only way to overthrow it was likely to be by massive military action. Saddam was worried and expected an attack, probably by air and land, but he was not convinced that it would be immediate or overwhelming. His regime expected their neighbours to line up with the US. Saddam knew that regular army morale was poor. Real support for Saddam among the public was probably narrowly based.

C reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military

Depleted Uranium Weapons use has to be stopped immediately, the use of these weapons is a War Crime.
Look at the pictures on this link I provide and know this is happening to American children as well, just not in as great of numbers as Iraqi children.

These mid-wives are purported to have said they no longer look forward to births as.... "We don't know what's going to come out."
