Why would you guys want to vote for Pro-life Kucinich? |
|
Jesus he wants to take away a woman's right to chose, going against liberal philosophy. At least clark is pro choice, doesn't that bother Kucinich supporters?

1. I thought Kucinich said... |
|
that it was his personal choice that he would not inflict on the electorate. It's not the same thing.

amen cmt!
this thread was obviously started to divert attention away from the fire that's coming out about clark...
my suggestion is to let this thread die a fast death.

4. because if we only vote for people based on their purity |
|
or perhaps excuse a candidate as a possibility based on one or two things, then we're screwed. He said his feelings on this wouldn't affect sticking up for the law.

7. a) he's perfect on every other issue |
|
b) nobody else comes close to stacking up to him on any issue other than abortion c) because, even if he wanted to, there is no way in hell he could fuck with the current abortion laws.

I don't get upset about this 'flip-flop.' Kucinich represents a district heavily populated by 'white ethnics' (the term used here in Chicago to describe residents of the Bungalow Belt) a whole lot of whom are Catholics. In that regard, he was simply representing his constituents. Now that he aspires to national office, he has completed a 'personal journey' over to the pro-choice position.
I don't care how he got here, he's come over to the right side and no way can he go back. I'm a Deanie, but I don't hold the abortion issue against Dennis.

10. Here's a link to USA today: if you had taken a moment to Google |
|
you would have known he has changed his position. I know you don't trust leftist sources so I linked USA Today. I hope they are not too radical-left-lunatic for you. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/2003-02-27-prochoice-dem_x.htm

11. Kucinich respects life.. |
|
that's why he opposes war, supports peace, opposes the death penalty, supports civil rights and human rights, supports fair trade, and also why he has voted against abortion in his career many times. Who cares whether his stance matches some supposed "liberal" base? His positions are based on his conscience, not based on padding his wallet.
Anyway, not all liberals agree with the pro-choice lobby on every aspect. At one time there was a sizeable and reliable Catholic constituency to the Democratic party, but I believe that it has been fractured and split between Dems and Repubs, because of the abortion issue. Think Martin Luther King and Father Roy. Or the nuns who splatter their blood in protest at the nuclear silos. There needs to be room in our party for these people too.

13. I respected Kucinich more when he was anti-abortion |
|
Although I don't agree, I do see a philosophical consistancy in being anti-death penalty, anti-war, and anti-abortion. He is also consistantly pro-poor people, and pro-enviorenment. I can see that as a consistant world view, if one believes life begins at conception. He would philosophically be always for the dispossed, the powerless, and the voiceless.
The people I don't respect are those who are anti-abortion, but pro death penalty, pro-war. That is simply evil, in my mind.
