1. I think these people, like millions of others,
remember the old Republican party, the party of fiscal responsibility. The reich wing of the party is driving moderates our way.

My limited-intellect opinion, anyway.

2. God, I hope so.
For if the slow return od sanity to my brother and sister Americans is in the air, then it will be like the the scent of honeysuckle and lilacs on a warm spring night breeze.

/me wipes a tear of hope.

14. Gee, aren't we the eternal optimist LOL
And why probably not? It is obvious that some are starting to wake from the trance and become aware once again to the horrors of this administration.

And is it too late? Of course not. It never is.

22. On one hand
I think it's good even though it is a lil late. I think it will be a sweet victory if we do take back everything in 2006 and we can do impeachment and trials. I'd love that. *sigh* That would kick ass. Hopefully it'll happen. All we have to do is get all these new converts out and voting democratic.

16. There is sincere change going on.
Self-respecting human beings don't like being lied to in order to send troops off to die and kill.

If there are some trolls, let 'em have their twisted shits 'n' giggles. We've been dealing with them for years and always will.

18. Sometimes maybe yeah. But even where I live, seriously red area, there
are a lot of harsh words spoken about the junta and the rubber stamp congress. Folks where I live do not talk much at all, let alone bother with discussing politics in a place as far from them as D.C. For them to be coming out vocally tells me the GOP at the helm of the ship of state is heading for an iceberg they don't even see the tip of.

There are a lot of very unhappy old-style fiscal conservative, Constitution supporting GOP voters out there who are ripe for the picking if we get a solid populist message to them about REAL Dem values. Those of us in Red areas are ambassadors, and we need to show our neighbors that Rush and the rest of hate radio have been lying about us for years.

Walk the walk while the neocons talk and talk and lie and lie. We will make some real conversions.

And yeah, there will be loads of trolls in various forms to deal with. Take it as a sign that we are doing a lot of good here at the DU. The others really are afraid of the fact that we get the truth out there and are making friends/influencing people. Keep a sharp eye out and zap 'em when they try to shit in our house. Don't let fellow DUers get so frustrated that they give up and shut up. That is what the liars want us to do. They want us to get to the point of giving up. Piss on that! ;)

Love your troll. Miss those little dolls.

28. Brilliant and down-to-earth
This is important and it's vital that this message get thru to Dem leadership and elected officials. Encapsulates major points from many other threads over recent months. Thank you.

32. Sure it's easy to have a laugh about how others communicate, but does it
win friends/influence people (and elections) when we do that? Or does it give a reason for one more person (who grew up around people who don't speak like you do) a reason to complain to their friends that
Those Democrats are a bunch of elitist snobs!

Here's a bit in information about human nature: People will not generally go along with you if you make them feel bad about themselves.
Try a little kindness and some of that empathy we progressives pride ourselves on having and reach out instead of pointing and laughing.
Dr. Dean is trying to reach out, listen, win friends so they will hear the message. Are you helping or hurting in that effort?

Peace, a bit of compassion, and some tough love for our own,
hm

besides--no one is perfect. as an example: "then their very slow and extremely ignorant..." i believe the correct spelling is THEY'RE as in "they are" (see? no one is perfect. personally, i don't like to capitalize--or use correct punctuation in a consistent manner)

Wow, guess everyone is destined to shit their britches for their entire life?

Man oh man, that is SO not how to win people over to a different point of view! Debate coaches around the nation are pounding their heads on walls wondering where they went wrong.

23. Lousy timing....even without media coverage of the 'memo' -
Edited on Fri May-13-05 10:53 PM by higher class
....supporters of Bush who were war supporters (that I speak to) are silent and a little blue. And they are sputtering a little. If only the memo had come out in September to allow a few weeks for the impact to set in. The solidarity of belief and trust is leaking as if through hen house wire fencing.

One good thing....PNAC and the cabal cannot pull off another 9-11. There is no trust there except by the religious who still think God gave them George Bush.

Followers of George Bush...meet George Orwell. Before it's too late.

Sadly, there are only a few good Dem leaders who can say "I told you so". Many Bush/Blair supporters are silent. We knew what was going on so why couldn't they? Accountability. Honesty. Retention of the Constitution and Bill of RIghts. Peace. Prosperity. Equality. We want simple things from you.

But you like payola and votes. You read it wrong, some of you Dem leaders.
