House Members call on Gonzales for War Crimes Probe
Congressman John Conyers will be issuing a letter cosigned by roughly 50 House members calling for a special prosecutor to investigate claims that the U.S. has violated the War Crimes Act at secret detention facilities in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, RAW STORY has learned.

is going nowhere. At least not right now.

This isn't the first time that House members have brought this up, if you read carefully you'll notice they sent a similar letter to John Ashcroft and he didn't respond. Let's also look further at who is receiving letter, the Dark Prince of the Torture Memo - Alberto Gonzales. He's really supposed to establish an special counsel to investigate himself? Not likely.

What is somewhat more likely however, is that the question of what is and isn't "torture" and therefore illegal (as the Gonzales/Bybee memos attempted to redefine) will be addressed and settled in our courts as various detainees and their families begin to seek legal redress through the courts.

But I do like Conyers raw guts, and that's what counts. This is the kind of thing we need to energize our base, and more importantly begun to wake of those few Republicans - like Chuck Hagel and George Voinovich - who still have a integrity and a conscience.

Before this can be truly handled, we need to focus on Tom Delay and all the House Members who are on his payroll.

http://www.pcactionfund.org/delayspocket/

Then look at his apparent involvement in tanking Republican Senator Murkowski efforts to ban the legalized sex-trade and sweat shops in Saipan, after accepting their money.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/05/09/real.delay/

The DCCC needs to ram this stuff down the RNC's throat - Delay's dirty as sin, and so are all but the mere five House Republican who haven't taken his money - They need to tar, feather and run everyone of this guys out of the House and get it back under Democratic control. That would give the Dems control of each and every committee, and issue such as this don't have to wait for the Attorney General to establish a Special Prosecutor - they can investigate it themselves using their subpoena power.

With the Dems in control, John Conyers become head of the Judiciary Committee - that's the Impeachment Committee FOLKS - and that's when we're truly off to the races.

We can't wait around for MSM or anyone else to do this for us, we - Dems - have to take control and responsibility. Our focus on this has to be laser-like.

Think big and plan ahead people - the Republicans do.

7. Start at the bottom...
Then work you're way up to the top. If Bush is taken down first, that leaves us with Cheney, then Hastert. If we take Congress first there can be hearings which bring Cheney up for charges of corruption involving the funding of the Iraq reconstruction, Bush can be impeached - and Nancy Pelosi becomes President.
