What is a billion
Subject: whats a billion?

The next time you hear a politician use the word
"billion," casually, think about whether you want the
politician spending your tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one
advertising agency did a good job of putting that
figure into perspective in one of its releases:
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the
Stone Age.
A billion days ago no-one walked on two feet on earth.

A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate the government spends it.

"A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate the government spends it."

to this....

rate Bush is spending OUR money.

3. A billion is ten dollars
That's how one of my professors used to explain it. There are about 100 million taxpaying households, so each time the government spends a billion, it is spending $10 of your tax money.

Each time shrub asks for an extra $80 billion for Iraq, that's like his taking $800 of your money. Do you have an extra $800 lying around to waste on this criminal war?

I first tried to find a picture for a billion, but it doesn't exist. I did find the following picture which is both appropriate and looks like it has been made by DistressedAmerican
