Does Walmart own Lowe's?

I was listening to Bob Kincaid yesterday and he told a caller that Walmart owns 40% of Lowe's. So I Googled this and found all sorts of postings and articles that say yes or no on the issue. Does anyone know the truth of the matter?

I like to go into Home Depot and buy a whole bunch of stuff (plants are great for this), wait until I have more time on my hands and then then take the stuff back for a refund!

When I lived in San Diego, I used to stop by and have them make keys for my car (which NEVER fit) and then I would take hem back for a refund.

Guess I am a passive-aggressive bitch, but I just hate what they did with the felons list in Florida. I hate the fact that their CEO takes his obscene and undeserved wealth and fills the Republican campaign chest, and I hate the fact that big box stores lie and mislead about their prices all the while putting smaller but more employee and patron friendly stores out of business.

21. I have W*M's annual report in my hands...

I am a shareholder (I know, I know, but I live in Arkansas: it's practically a requirement!). Anyway, I have some contacts at the Home Office in Bentonville and I'll ask them to confirm/deny. Doesn't really make sense as Lowe's is a direct competitor, a 'category buster,' as it is called in the business.

So what did Home Depot do in regards to the election? Enlighten me! I have always liked that store. Should I add it to the boycott list?

Home Depot tycoon Bernard Marcus is a major fund raiser for the Republicans and was sitting on the board of ChoicePoint when ChoicePoint helped throw the 2000 election in Florida!!! ChoicePoint provided the inaccurate felons list in Florida that was one of the concerns in the 2000 election. The felons list was highly inaccurate and, according to a friend of mine who is a Democratic activist in Florida, targeted potential Democratic voters.

In fact, Lowe's closed for a day in Florida after the election of 2000 in protest of the role that Home Depot played in the Florida election fraud of 2000.

esp since I started going to Lowes as my replacement for Home Depot when I read about how much HD had been sending to Repubs and Repub causes.

reading about them both at Buyblue.org didn't clear it up for me.

I found out my auto insurer is waaaaay red! So I checked out Progressive, which has a 100% blue rating and it looks like I'll be able to get a equally deal with them (I have to get my current policy out to make sure the coverage is comparable, but it looks like it is.)

a publicly-held company, and ask to speak to Investor Relations, they are obligated to give you this information.

Lowe's top shareholder is Capital Research and Management Company, and they only own 12.79%. Wal-Mart is not even listed.

We switched to Lowe's after learning about Home Depot's political leanings. And then Lowe's even opened 5 minutes from our home. So when I heard Bob talk about this yesterday, it was such bad news. I figured I'd get an answer here.

shows Lowes really a political neutral atm. A couple of their top officers gave small repub contributions but we're talking pennies compared to Home Depot. And I didn't see Lowes having an active political PAC unlike a lot of the other biggies.

15. I posted this a couple of months ago asking the same thing,

but did not get replies. My Sister was in Okla a few months ago and her friends and in-laws told her that Wal Mart owns part of Lowes.They all love Wally World.
