A profile of Walter Jones NC Congressman |
|
He is my Congressman and frankly is likely to be that for quite some time. I figured this profile might interest some people here. He is quite the mixed bag. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/2408544p-8786693c.html

1. Yeah, read that this morning |
|
Mr. Freedom Fries is having quite a turn of opinion about the war in Iraq.

2. I read that article too |
|
I find it interesting that he has a large military constituency and is speaking out about going into war in Iraq based on lies. If he has his finger on the pulse of his constituents, as he should, it sounds as though more and more enlistees and military families are getting fed up.

5. I wonder the very same thing |
|
He evidently is very good at constituent service, though I haven't written him. Though I am in his district the city I live in actually has its own Congressman, so I have dealt with him (he is a liberal Democrat). It is quite likely the military is getting fed up.

3. Yes, very interesting. It seems his heart is in the right place. |
|
Although I question where his mind wanders at times, and the references to God are wearying.
So, he's the buffoon who instituted the playground-level silliness of freedom fries and freedom toast. I wonder if, now, it all tastes like sawdust in his mouth.
Thanks for sharing, dsc.

4. Isn't this wingnut who sponsored the .. |

"Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act," H.R. 235, which basically overturns the prohibition on a preacher politicking from the pulpit. It permits a PASTOR to politick - but no other 501(c)(3) - or charitable/educational institution.
Looking for link ...

He is a very mixed bag. He may well be our best friend on the war and Delay but our worst enemy on that issue.

I guarantee you we will see this country so intensely divided, and things will get very ugly between neighbors (even more so than now) if those churches become openly political (as least most of them had to use a bit of discretion up until now).
In a way, it would be good if H.R. 235 passes; the Religious Reich will overreach, and I imagine many will find their consciences (that they've somehow lost) and walk.
Or maybe I'm an optimist.
