How much is too much?
I just have to ask this question because it seems that everyone either buys the tripe that the media is selling and supports Bush, or they hate him but they voted for him anyway. You would have thought with the rapid deterioration of things that people would have come out in droves to get rid of him. So much so that if the Republicans cheated the way many believe that they did, it wouldn't have mattered because he wouldn't have had a prayer. Instead we have an idiot lame-duck with a 40-something percentage approval rating, yet he is treated like the greatest President ever by some. Living in my godforsaken conservative area, I feel like punching people half the time.

2. It's not even the worst state from that standpoint.
It has even improved. Our legislature is Democratic majority now.

3. Interesting question
Edited on Mon May-16-05 12:03 AM by barb162
I was sure Bush would lose with his pathetic job creation, falling dollar and other poor economic numbers and the Iraq war. With his "deserter" and other problems like general incompetency and favoring the rich. NOT!

The facts are that several things are combining in this country in a very bad way and the media is not completely to blame. As long as you have people in this country voting against their interests, we are sunk as a country. I believe we are going down and fast. I live in a conservative area too and feel these people/neighbors are IDIOTS.

7. RACISM explains it: economy bad? Racists blame ethnics for that, vote GOP
to end the ethnics activities in the economy and "improve " the economy.

Racists see everything bad as somehow due to the minorities. So, to correct all that is bad, "keep the ethnics down". Who will "keep them down"? Why the GOP, not the dems.

So the confederacy votes on racism, just like they acted on racism in 1861.... diff parties then, but the motive was always racism.

Racism is the hidden strength of the GOP. It is why our economic arguments go nowhere. Economy bad? They blame ethnics, not Corporations.

To fix the economy, "beat the ethnics down". The GOP is the only way to beat the ethnics down. So they vote bush. Bush delivers racism. Keeps whittling away at social programs "that help only the ethnics {so thinks the racist}" Bush whittles away all social programs, other GOP's end affirmative action. Racists love this.

we can fight back by ending racist's fears... fear of job competition from ethnics.. end the fear with Jobs for All... see sig below... end blockbusting fear with a guaranteed house value.

9. The race card will not trump the joker in this game.
Seriously, it's rather hard to make the racism charge stick with Rice, Powell, Gonzales, Paige, etc., on the tube every night.

Sure, we hate their politics, but their skin color is rather undeniable.

Fortunately, Bushco has provided us an ARSENAL of other weapons to use against them. So let's use them.

Peace.
