We may have another convert |
|
This morning I was outside yelling at...er working on my truck and I had Stephanie Miller on the radio. A guy who lives across the alley came over(it's a guy thing, we're attracted to cars and cussing lol) and started chit chatting. He asked about the hoses I was replacing, about usual guy stuff, and he listened to Stephanie make a funny comment about Bolton. He asked me,"what is this radio station anyway? That woman is funny." So I told him "It's AM 1270, our new progressive talk station here. This is Stephanie Miller. She's good." I also pointed out that she makes points with her humor. The guy agreed with me and said that he's going to start listening, as he just lost his job and has little else to occupy his time. I said that he may actually learn something as he listens. He then bid me farewell, as I was almost done and said he was going to tune his radio to that station, as he was sick of limbaugh, O'Reilly, and others who he said are liars. He also said that he isn't going to vote republican next time under any circumstances. I told him that it was a personal choice, but probably the correct choice to make. And off he went, I assume to listen to AAR and the rest of the programming on our progressive talk radio station. Cool.

3. Unfortunately, RePugs only compute when it involved "ME", Dems |
|
for some reason have always had the ability to appreciate "US" as in what is good for all of us. The (R) crowd only wakes up when it affects them directly (or covers up their secret fears and longings - like worrying so much more about gay sex than most gay guys I know)

because you could easily have turned him off with a harangue! Thanks for giving us somebody else on our side!
Now go wash your hands so you won't get your shirt greasy when you give yourself that well deserved pat on the back.

I like the way you handled that. Sometimes I daydream about telling off my freeper in-laws and shoving it down there throats how wrong they are. But, hopefully, I'll handle it nicely like you did.

I'm looking forward to 2006 now! Hopefully all these people go out and vote and vote democratic so we can take back our country. I don't care if they never vote democratic again except next year so we can get the assholes in the House.

8. I had a convert come into the Dem HQ last week |
|
He wanted to know how he could change his registration to Democrat. He is sick of the way the country is going. It made my day.

Maybe we don't have to win them over, maybe the neocon facists in power will do it for us. You see, I still believe in Americans being smart enough to make the correct decision, even though it seems just the opposite sometimes. Now I think I'll get ice cream.

Perhaps I should offer to man the HQ more often. I'm only there one day a month.

Nice!! How do you register as democratic? In my state you don't have to put it on your form (which is good with what happened last year).

You make the choice at the primary election. At your first election you ask for a Democratic ballot. At that time you get a D put after your name. That D will follow you through every primary election. You can switch parties at any primary by asking for the other party's ballot; you then have to sign a "challenge form" that confirms that you are switching parties.

14. Never heard of a "challenge form" |
|
I asked for a Democratic ballot in the primaries '04 and am now registered as Democrat.
We had a primary a few weeks ago - local council people and a judge. My husband voted before work, me after work and we were discussing it at dinner. Turned out what was on his ticket wasn't the same as mine.
He went in and the poll worker asked "which ballot do you want?". He said Democrat. She says "are you sure you don't want to change - I can give you a Republican one and get that changed?" He says "No, I want a Democratic one." So she gives him the ballot and it turns out she gave him a Republican ballot anyway and HE didn't realize it.
He is now known as the "Accidental Republican".

15. Contact the board of elections |
|
That is a definite violation of rules and should get the "judges" at that precinct in big trouble. If it doesn't, go to the newspaper. That worker violated the law. The Democratic judges should have been aware of what was happening. I'm appalled that any worker would say what she said. To give him a Republican ballot after that is even more appalling. Please take action on this.
