Return of the Liberal
Edited on Mon May-16-05 04:30 PM by ck4829
After reading that RW'ers are actually planning to cause Civil War in America.

I have decided to enact a strategy, my fellow Liberals, it is time to come out of apathy, it is time to come away from our do-nothing attitude.

We must come back, and we must defeat the Right Wing before they destroy us, America, and the world.

We have to promote the idea that the People come first, the Neo-Cons have their Military worship, the Theo-Cons have their bigotry, we need to return America to the People. We also have to prepare for the Hard Right's plans for the destruction of America and her citizens.

This list of things that should be our priorities are in no particular order.

1. Make sure that all people have insurance
2. Boost Education
3. Make sure that all people have a roof over their heads
4. Take the focus off of 'moral values'
5. Election Reform
6. Support for Interfaith groups
7. Support for Pro-GLBT groups
8. Start a campaign to give more people a 'home' on the Internet
9. Make alliances with Sane Republicans
10. Create groups which can teach people about Dominionists, PNAC, and the Hard Right
11. Find ways to oppose the Militants that are gaining power

With your suggestions, I am hoping to form a new faction of the Democratic Party. It should be known as the Democratic Underground Committee, a DNC for everyday people.

1. Let's begin a campaign for liberty.
Here are some possible highlights:

1. The fourteenth amendment wasn't an accident, and yes, it does mean that the Bill of Rights defends civil liberty against state governments.

2. If the ninth amendment means anything, it means that the Constitution should be interpreted liberally in defining civil liberty.

3. Judges who hue to the above principles are not activists, but defenders of our freedom.

4. Freedom is under attack by the religious right. They oppose a woman's freedom to birth control and abortion, a gay couple's freedom to marry, a scientist's freedom to experiment with embryonic stem cells, a traveler's freedom to visit nations our government doesn't approve, and much else.

5. Fighting for freedom is what liberals do. It was how this nation was founded.

2. I admire your efforts.
Toward a similar goal, I have started monthly donations to: (1) NARAL Pro-Choice America, (2) Americans United for Separation of Church and State, (3) democraticunderground.com, and (4) Parents, Family, Friends of Lesbians and Gays - PFLAG.

I have started my own interfaith group.

I'm going to be Secretary for my local PFLAG chapter.

And I participate in my local Democracy for America; my specialty is separation of church and state issues and the related topic of the Theocratic Right.
