President Vicente Fox reversed course Monday night and apologized for saying that Mexicans in the United States do the work that blacks won't.

Fox repeatedly refused to back away from his Friday comment, saying his remark had been misinterpreted. But later, in telephone conversations with the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton the president said he "regretted" the statement.

He believes that if Blacks were smart enough, rich enough, and not so lazy and promiscuous that they'd prove themselves. Therefore, if Blacks are discriminated against, they brought it all upon themselves, and it's there fault.

Kind of like justification for slavery. Thank goodness our founding fathers had the decency to take in these "people" and give them food and shelter. Right?

His great trick is that he can find (usually by spending lots of money on polling and focus groups) just the right words to belch his hate. You won't hear something like that from Bush.

In all fairness to Texans, I don't see the same overt racism here than I did when I lived in other parts of the south, even other parts of the marginal south. Less than in most parts of the North. I also don't see the same amount of code words and wink-wink comments here either.

Texans have an equal opportunity hatred for the poor.
