Rummy: People "need to be very careful about what they say."
That's our Secretary of Defense, standing up for our rights and human rights everywhere. :sarcasm:

Now, a flashback to a 9/26/2001 press briefing by Ari Fleischer, where he comments on Bill Maher's observation that "...Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly.":

Ari: "...And that's why -- there was an earlier question about has the President said anything to people in his own party -- they're reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. This is not a time for remarks like that; there never is..."

Gee, is there a pattern here????? :grr:  :nuke:

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said the {Newsweek} flap was a reminder that people "need to be very careful about what they say."

"People are dead, and that's unfortunate," Rumsfeld told reporters. "People need to be very careful about what they say just as people need to be careful about what they do."

Q As Commander-In-Chief, what was the President's reaction to television's Bill Maher, in his announcement that members of our Armed Forces who deal with missiles are cowards, while the armed terrorists who killed 6,000 unarmed are not cowards, for which Maher was briefly moved off a Washington television station?

MR. FLEISCHER: I have not discussed it with the President, one. I have --

Q Surely, as a --

MR. FLEISCHER: I'm getting there.

Q Surely as Commander, he was enraged at that, wasn't he?

MR. FLEISCHER: I'm getting there, Les.

Q Okay.

MR. FLEISCHER: I'm aware of the press reports about what he said. I have not seen the actual transcript of the show itself. But assuming the press reports are right, it's a terrible thing to say, and it unfortunate. And that's why -- there was an earlier question about has the President said anything to people in his own party -- they're reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. This is not a time for remarks like that; there never is.

3. Well, then... let me say this as carefully as I can....
Ahem.. Mr. Rumsfailed.... Go fuck yourself, you lying, murdering, condescending pile of steaming bat guano. You, and the idiot minions who follow you and your chimp-boy, are the reason this nation is on the fast track to becoming a 3rd world theocratic consumer hell. Whew... even as careful as I was, I almost spilled my soda.

Edited on Tue May-17-05 01:01 AM by wtmusic
"I'm not into this detail stuff. I'm more concepty."

"(Osama bin Laden is) either alive and well or alive and not too well or not alive."

"If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much."

"Let's hear it for the essential daily briefing, however hollow and empty it might be. We'll do it."

"I can't think of anything funnier than a handful of congressmen walking around (in Iraq). They'd have to be there for the next 50 years trying to find something. It's a joke."

"Oh, Lord. I didn't mean to say anything quotable."

"We know where they (the WMDs) are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."
