Wesley Clark as a Republican? |
|
I just read on another thread that someone thinks that Wesley Clark would run as a Republican. Is that possible? While he's not an extreme leftist, I thought he was firmly in the Democratic column. If Bush and his crowd were to ever recruit Clark, wouldn't this just kill the Democrats?
And what are the chances that he will run as a Democrat, whether that be as VP or P?

If Powell and McCain have no future as Repub presidential candidates because they are anathema to the far right, how can anyone possibly believe that Clark has any future there? You just can't get there from here.

3. Clark as a repuke is just wishful thinking by some folks. |
|
They obviously have ignored watching Clark on TV and reading the information that has been posted on DU about Clark.
I'll put it to you like this. If Clark was to run as a republican, the repukes would die laughing.

4. I have been aware of Clark |
|
I have seen him on TV a few times and his name mentioned on DU, so that's why it seemed like such an odd idea.
Do you know of some schedule of Clark's TV appearences? I'd like to start watching him on TV more often.

I remember people thinking that Colin Powell might run as a Democrat. He didn't, and he joined the Bush administration and now he is just a typical BFEE lackey. It seems like a good thing to me to CONSIDER the possibility of Clark running for President as a Republican. It is truly not impossible--he has not declared himself a Democratic candidate.
Heck, sometimes even actual elected Democrats become Republicans. And I want someone who is not just anti-Iraq but pro-peace.

6. Gen. Clark would run as a Pentacostal Curling Sweeper |
|
if he thought that was the best way to get elected. As a Republican he wouldn't even get nominated, nobody but a seating President would. That's the only reason we will run as a Democrat.

8. From the Atlantic Monthy |
|
An editorial about designing the perfect candidate:
Why not? And let's make him first in his class at West Point.
W: And a Rhodes Scholar.
M: And a thrice-wounded decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
W: Pro-choice.
M: Pro-affirmative action.
W: With private-sector experience leading a company specializing in alternative-energy research to end our dependence on imported oil.
M: And to leave a cleaner environment for our kids.
W: Yes—and someone who would support restoring fiscal discipline so we won't blight their future with debt.
There is not now, and never will be a pub who hold these views.

9. there is no way he'd run as a Republican |

He would have no chance against Bush, and he's way too liberal to accepted by them.

10. He's an "oppo" target |
|
If he were one of those people on the other side the RNC would not be doing "opposition research" on him. Just as we know Edwards would be labeled an "ambulance chaser" if nominated there is material on the web suggesting that Clark "almost started WWIII" and other such trash I won't mention here. I think he makes the right-wing nervous which is reason enough for any Democrat to at least give him a fair chance.

What definite proof do you have that the RNC is doing research on him? I mean, it's very, very probable, but has it been published anywhere?

14. "They" Don't Like Gen. Clark |

the notion of Clark going up against their beloved Dim Son as a GOP is something they would never support. I read a few posts in freeper site about Clark, they hate him.
If Clark runs it would have to be as a Dem
