Rummy: "Are more people going to die? You bet."
Anyone else disgusted by the cavalier way he said this on "This Week with George Stephanopolous?" I swear to God, the man can only be killed by a silver bullet or a stake through the heart.

1. What does he care?
He looks at military personnell as so much cannon fodder. It's easy for one who has never served (or been the sibling of one who has served) to be so cavalier. I just hope that this remark is broadcast to our armed forces and their families so they understand just how these clowns "support" the troops!

4. Didn't he say that military conscripts are "insignificant?"
I hope not a single Viet Nam vet votes for this fucker's boss in '04.

5. Actually, Rumsfeld did serve in the military
The Air Force, I think. Just to be accurate. But that doesn't lessen the callousnes of his statement. Makes it worse, if anything, IMO.

8. I know that. I was saying he dismissed military draftees.
Remember that one? He called the contribution of draftees "insignificant." What an ass.

21. That’s the style of these people.
In the wake 9/11 the Codpiece, rather than saying something like “unfortunately, we in the US are facing some dire circumstances…” instead gloated: "Lucky me—I hit the trifecta!"

So what if somebody else dies or takes the fall for his lies? “Lucky ME!”

11. Disgusted? I screamed "F*ck you Rummy" to the TV (and loud)
It was the most disgusting thing I have ever heard...I loathe this man..his condescending..pompous demeanor. He wasn't spouting any "bon mots" today though, was he? He was very defensive.

And when I heard that comment, suddenly I started thinking of our troops over in Iraq, 115 deg...not knowing who the enemy is...sitting ducks...I could have cried.

Then I had a worse thought. I wonder if our troops know now about the scandal here and it dawns on them that maybe this was a fake war and here they are. Wonder what the response will be?

17. Are more people going to die? You bet
So much for compassionate conservatism! Am betting that no one Rumfilled knows will die in this illegal war they have perpetuated But if per chance they do, what will he care? I am so disgusted, I can't even begin to express it! Personally, I hope they all rot in their own personal HELL! If there is such a place! for them.

22. This is just as bad...
as "Bring 'em on." How can we trust Bush to use our troops in a moral manner if he and his administration have no respect for them? Or for the thousands of innocent civilians that are dying, as evidenced by Rumsfeld's comparison of Baghdad to DC.

24. Here's what I thought of when I heard him say that
"Then the sea gave birth and it crawled up on the dirt
And stood up and took a look around
Said "I'm the next big thing and the gift that I bring
Comes directly from God, so there ain't no holdin' me down"
So he crowned himself king
Now no one remembers his name
But the seed that he sowed took the show on the road
There was blood on their hands and a plague on the land
They drew a line in the sand and made their last stand
They said "God made us in his image
And it's in God that we trust"
When asked about the men that had died by their hands
They said "ashes to ashes and dust to dust"

(Steve Earle, Ashes to Ashes)

25. "The number of deaths is inconsequential."
Rummy has said this a number of times, and I hear the same spin from the Republican Guard. "Quit whining, you crybabies! So what's 200 dead Americans in 10 weeks? That's nothing! Why, in WWII tens of thousands of men would perish in a single battle! Grow up!"

Huh? How the hell can ANY of these bastards shrug off the losses in Iraq like it is a pinball game, and not have their teeth knocked out by someone who has a loved one serving in Iraq, with men and women dying every day?

Wait a second -- these were the same Republican Guard who screeched at those of us who opposed the war (due to what we considered faulty evidence to undertake a massive committment in the Middle East) to "Support the Troops!"

Rummy and little George are having a ball playing with their little toy soldiers -- too bad this time they are not made of tin, but flesh and blood of our loved ones or neighbors.
