You're on the right track, but too scattered. I mean, have you ever BEEN to Roswell? You can feel that the air is different there. And Area 51? I can't say that I know how to get in there, but I might know somebody who USED to know before they changed the procedure. But they have stories to tell if anybody would LISTEN. Know what I mean? Everything is wired. Even you. We just don't know where the WIRES are or how to DISCONNECT them. It's INCREDIBLY brutal and graphic throughout; it has the most gut-churning sequence of someone being burned at the stake that I've ever seen (not quite as graphic as Ken Russell's The Devils, but worse cuz it's a female in CW)...
I saw this baby at the drive-in when I was about 12; I think it's a Roger Corman film, might've been Hammer or Shepperton Studios, one of the English ones, if memory serves...
And btw, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the original Poe story; they apparently just liked the title, and adaptations of Poe had served Corman well in a number of preceding films...
Why am I going on and on about this? Well, it may look staid and dated, given how old it is, and Vincent Price in there and all... but don't let that fool ya; it's an extremely disturbing film, Price at his very best, and very much UNlike anything else in Corman's catalog... it's a good window into the very world Butch and his Boys are bringing us even as I type here...
Not recommended for anyone with a weak stomach...
I mean the movie...

Moreso than anything I'd seen before or since... maybe it was just the basic role itself, the insane levels of power this guy had to do WHATEVER he wanted... and the story is pretty historically accurate, as I recall (saw it again about 5 years ago, I'd always wanted to do so but couldn't find it for a long time... that witch-burning sequence really traumatized the hell outta me, I think...
In terms of today, Price is like this chilling cross between John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld...
Have you seen the Ken Russell film I alluded to earlier?... perhaps the strongest, darkest, harshest view of that same time I have ever seen (based on the Aldous Huxley novel The Devils of Loudon... in fact, it may well be the harshest film I have ever seen--and made all the more impactful with the inclusion of Russell's trademard quick-cut-bright-colors-shockzooms&closeups-music-video style (I think Ken Russell is the father of all modern music video), and ample dashes of bizarre surrealistic humor...
You sound like a horror fan; it's hard to find, but well worth it!

I mean, talk about putting a populist spin on things! If it were simply a matter of producing millions of these little monsters and setting them loose on foreigners in distant lands, I think we'd see an incredible outpouring of support... would that it were that easy...
For whatever the intentions of our maddest scientists, pure as they might have been, it is woefully apparent that something went VERY VERY wrong in that secret mountain cavern lab, or wherever this happened...
They had MEANT to create a super-clone that would be capable of singing and dancing AND killing on cue; but instead, they birthed a monster so horrible that it even scared THEM...



The problem, as I see it thus far (and I'm still collating), is that the demonspawn we created for our own purposes has, for whatever reason, turned on us all; the monster is out of the box, and he's let the genie out of the bottle, and the genie stands poised to open up a tiny little red purse he carries at all times--and who knows WHAT's in there???...
I tell you truly: Now NO ONE is in control now, and madness reigns...
Of course, this is still just a theory... but if I can just keep going long enough to actually sculpt it into an actual concept...

Why do I do this?
