"No Child Left Behind" is backdoor draft?
The have carefully planned for the illeagal wars they want to concoct, including the new generation of soldiers, recruiting kids in High School disguised as the wonderful "No Child Left Behind". They have the list, when push come to shove, they will be at our door.
Was it ever a requirement for schools to provide a list in return for federal funding?

From the Christian Science Monitor:

The school is perhaps one of the first in the nation to debate and vote against military recruiting on high school campuses - a topic already simmering at the college level. In fact, the Supreme Court recently agreed to decide whether the federal government can withhold funds from colleges that bar military recruiters.

High schools are struggling with a similar issue as the No Child Left Behind Act requires that schools receiving federal funding must release the names of its students to recruiters. Some feel that's an invasion of privacy prompted by a war effort that has largely divided the American public. Others say barring recruiters is an infringement of free speech - and a snub to the military, particularly in a time of war.

No wonder my kid is receiving tons of mail from the Air Force, Army, Marines ...

1. Several threads about this in the past. Parents must sign a form to NOT
have the info about their kids given to recruiters. Too many people do not realize this. The recruiters can start contacting kids at 16, I believe. If parents do not pro-actively sign forms denying them, you can bet they will be hounding kids.

Hey, at 16, there is a natural tendency for parent/offspring tension. So along comes a couple of guys in flashy duds courting the kids at a time they are pretty vulnerable. And they promise the moon. Travel, training, RESPECT, a way to get outta the house and out from under those parental thumbs... Be assured these chaps know a thing or two about how to psyche up potential cannon fodder.

Contact the schools. Sign the forms to keep your kid's info confidential. Make plenty of noise and get the word out about this. The US Military is sending out predators to sucker punch kids. They do not need parents' permission to do this. The first thing some parents hear about it is when the kid signs on the line the day they turn 18! Amazing, isn't it? The neocons want to make sure any aspect of a female teenager's sexual health/treatment is run by parents for permission but they have made it just fine for recruiters to work kids over for two years before they can enlist without parental approval! Gee, sounds sorta WRONG doesn't it?

Parents: Be aware! Get involved! Make sure you know the if 'the pusher man' is some guy in a uniform trying to hook your kids on the myth that war is not hell.

2. My kid is 16. So you are right. Never received an opt-out
Yes, we must spread the word and raise hell. Federal educational funds tied into recruiting.

She is recently being homeschooled, but once on the list, I guess that's it.

They probably also have some recomendations for war game software for the kids, that are "cool" to play.

7. I remember earlier this year
reading that in Texas they'd have some sort of army convention and have information pamphlets and recruiters there to talk to you and I remember reading how they'd have army video game's to play (like play station and XBox etc) and after it the kids (high school age) would sign up! It's manipulation and purely disgusting. Did anybody ever read about this??

6. Question from me
I haven't been in the public school system (besides college) since 2001 and was wondering do they tell you at the beginning at the year and give you an opt-out forum do you have to do it yourself?

3. There was an ice-cream parlour chain in the Midwest which sold kid's
birthday information to the military. Or donated it, or similar. They were popular in regard to having huge birthday parties; you'd sign up etc.

Shameful.

8. Isn't something like that

10. You'd hope that it's illegal, but look at NoChildLeftBehind.
According to info on http://www.michealmoore.com, your information will be forwarded unless you opt out. Of course, if you aren't aware that you NEED to opt out in order to maintain your civil liberties, they win.

Enough back-door crap like this from the government. This went out of fashion with the "record and CD club" opt-out or we send you something every month and bill you nonsense.

4. Does anybody remember the ASVAB?
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery? I don't know if all high school students took it or just the ones situated near military bases but I know my school did (we were about five miles from an army base). Then after the results came in a 'counselor' would let you know what army job you were best suited for according to the test...just in case you were interested in joining.

Apparently things haven't changed much.

5. Yes
I found out about it last year around the election. I was wanting to know more information so searched it in yahoo and found a lot of information. My brother used to get a lot of army recuruting calls but finally my mother told them to buzz off or she'd tell their superior and they haven't bothered us again. (My brother graduated in 2003). When they used to call it'd always be nothing and just them asking how my brother was doing. They'd never ask if he wanted to join or anything. It was really old and annoying. Why else do you think they got the name but have crappy policies?
