Librarians brush with FBI

It was a moment that librarians had been dreading.

On June 8, 2004, an FBI agent stopped at the Deming branch of the Whatcom County Library System in northwest Washington and requested a list of the people who had borrowed a biography of Osama bin Laden. We said no.

WASHINGTON, May 18 - The Bush administration and Senate Republican leaders are pushing a plan that would significantly expand the F.B.I.'s power to demand business records in terror investigations without obtaining approval from a judge, officials said on Wednesday

No judge involved. Can't change the judiciary, just make them irrelevant.

2. Damn, they're brave.
Wonder if anyone has noticed the catbox being moved or the fish tank lid left open yet?

I feel sorry for the hose-ear who'd ask my ESSO to cough up the patron records...

3. What a waste of my tax dollars
among other things.

What are they going to do with a list of seventh graders working on their current events reports?

Is the public library *really* such a hotbed for terrorists?
