Pro-nuclear option ad campaign |
|
From "The Hill"s email list - www.TheHill.com
Ad campaign Progress for America, a wealthy conservative political advocacy group, unveiled Thursday a $250,000 television ad buy promoting the Senate confirmation of Priscilla Owen, a nominee to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. The advertisement will run nationwide on cable news channels such as Fox and CNN, as well as on Christian cable television. So far this month, Progress for America has spent close to $3.6 million on an advertising campaign supporting Senate Republicans' plan to trigger the so-called nuclear option to confirm Owen and other controversial judicial nominees blocked by Democratic filibusters, the most of any conservative group.
Also Thursday, MoveOn.org's PAC announced a $100,000 ad to be aired on CNN nationwide opposing the nuclear option. The money spent so far by Progress for America may be just a drop in the bucket. Chris Myers, the group's executive director, predicted in a call Thursday with reporters that spending on a fight to fill an anticipated vacancy on the Supreme Court would reach $17 million.

is too busy doing stuff to help people (hopefully) to run an ad, like this. Hah! Remember, it's our own faults that we try to be helpful.

3. Why should we have a better money base than them? |
|
They are the pro-rich party so they have all the rich people.

Quite a few Democrats among the rich people. George Soros was mentioned in this very thread. Warren Buffett also qualifies. So do the 'Hollywood elite'. Even in yuppieland (such as Upper Arlington here in Columbus) there are quite a few Democrats, even if Republicans carry the area overall.
Alot of rich people do exactly what we excoriate Republican poor people for doing -- vote against their economic interest. The difference is motivational: Republican poor people vote their narrow prejudices, Democratic rich people vote for the priciple of society's betterment, over their own economic interests.
Which is better? That's a no brainer.
