White House Press Corps woke up, showed Scottie some teeth
From DailyKos

WH reporter Revolt! Scottie Mc C's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Thu May 19th, 2005 at 09:13:09 PDT

Yesterday was a Very Bad Day for White House Spokesmanatrix Scott McClellan. It wasn't supposed to be that way.

Much to his surprise, the press corps proved to have a gag reflex after all. Scotty McC finally crossed a line, and they remembered that even whipped dogs have teeth.

the feeding frenzy started when early in the Press Conference:

Q: With respect, who made you the editor of Newsweek? Do you think it's appropriate for you, at that podium, speaking with the authority of the President of the United States, to tell an American magazine what they should print?

MR. McCLELLAN: I'm not telling them. I'm saying that we would encourage them to help --

Q You're pressuring them.

Even more remarkably, the question was asked by a reporter for an American TV Network!

<snip>

There's LOTS more...

1. He finally stepped hard enough on their calloused,
corn-ridden toes to make them feel it. Let's see what happens.

4. The Media is finally realizing that if they don't start doing their
job that they will be irrelvant real soon and be relegated to doing puff reporting, clicking their heels and mouthing Zieg Heil.

7. Ownership of the media is a huge problem.
The conglomos need to be broken up.
Ironically, SBC (formerly Southwestern Bell) is buying/eating her own mother, AT&T. Remember when we broke up that dangerous telephone monopoly?

2. Scott should resign immediately....
Let him resign from his phony press corps position. Obviously Jeff Gannon can even do better smear campaigns for the Commander and Chief. Let Scott step down, let the media break loose of its leash....If it can break loose.

Karl Rove should forget this game.

5. I heard that clip
I thought it was great! I forgot where (a show on AAR I believe) and it was great! I was so happy someone finally had some balls against little Scottie. Too bad we couldn't petition to get his resignation. He over stepped the lines. His job is to answer question's from the press. Not tell the press what to do. In our Bill of Rights we have freedom of the press.

10. It amazed me that Fox News spoke out!
To think, Fox News of all people, the official mouthpiece of the WH ripped into Scott Mclellan....What edge did he cross this time?

3. A day late and a dollar short
They ignored everything for YEARS, since September 2001, in fact, and toadied along like good little lapdogs, but when the regime finally started screwing around on THEIR precious turf, they freak out, get agitated, and cover it like Watergate...Such eager little Jimmy Olsons, all of a sudden!

Oh well, better late than never, I suppose!

6. Thank you for pointing this out
I have been so tied up with CSPAN, calling senators, and DU that I didn't get to Kos today.

8. How dare they talk back to the King's mouthpiece!
Who do these mere reporters think they are to be talking back to someone who speaks for the King? Their job is to be Objective -- objects -- to take the spoken Word of Royal authority and carry it unmolested to the King's subjects.

Next thing you know these knaves will be claiming some imagined right to print whatever they want to print, including seditition and blasphemy. Not in this 14th Century they don't!
