I never thought I will have to ask this question in the U.S.
What is the purpose of our nation and its government? Is it to provide for political and economic freedoms for the great majority of our people and to empower them so that they have a direct say in their own and their children's futures?Or is it to curb these freedoms with lies told on behalf of corporations, their lobbyists and foriegn powers so our children could be shipped off to wars fought without our approval based on flimsy pretexts?

And don't even ask why when many of our people cannot go to decent schools where teachers are well rewarded and their children cannot even see a doctor for ordinary or even serious ailments, we are asked to believe that there is no money available for these urgent tasks when we have money to wage wars against unseen enemies based on the words of liars?

1. rethugs don't want to pay for social programs but would rather
spend their money on bombs and killing people - they call it patriotism and say they are pro life but their actions say they are against life

3. under the leadership of George POPPY Bush, through the hands of his son,
Edited on Fri May-20-05 07:27 AM by flordehinojos
GEORGE W. BUSH and that his successor to the throne in 2008, this nation has been transformed, and will continue to be transformed, from a nation which no longer provides "for political and economic freedoms for the great majority of our people ... have a direct say in their own and their children's future"... into a nation where... "these freedoms with lies told on behalf of corporations, their lobbyists and foreign powers... so that our children can be shipped off to wars based on flimsy pretexts and, fought without our approval..."

So that the bushes and their halliburton and carlyle groups can make indecent amount of moneys, stole from us our tax paid dollars which they use to finance the wars, and from the innocent iraqi civilians whom they kill and those from whom they rob their oil, their nation, their national treasures.

POPPY BUSH IS CRIMINAL LIAR #1. HIS SONS HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB OF KEEPING UP WITH THE OLD MAN.

4. When corporations were made citizens, this course became
inevitable.

But it's not over. Lookit how the corporatists damaged themselves publicly yesterday.

Never give up.

5. Very good question. It's all about the greater good--is it better
to educate citizens so they can become enriched and thereby enrichthe country in return, or is is better to enrich a few? I really cannot see how the CONS' efforts will help this country in the long run. I think they hate America and by stealing wealth and knowledge will turn us into a second-class country. People won't seek educations here, they've already stopped buying our goods. It won't be long before we become open prey to the world's stronger countries.

6. Why does EVERYTHING have to be described as freedom?
What about balancing freedom with social responsibility? If we need to learn anything from the rest of the world, this is it.

That would imply a healthy level of regulation, welfare and public infrastructure (like schools).

Democrats have to stop describing absolutely everything in terms of 'freedom'. That allows any Republican to shout "youre against freedom!" when we stand behind Social Security and environmental protection.

7. We're increasing the Power and Wealth of the AVERAGE CITIZEN.
Edited on Fri May-20-05 08:19 AM by TahitiNut
When Bill Gates takes a walking tour of an unemployment office, the 'average' wealth of every person in that office increases by more than $500 million. When 100 people increase their wealth by $1 billion and 100 million people decrease their wealth by $900 (some more, some less), then the 'average' person's wealth increases by nearly $100. When 120 million people vote in an election and 'only' 2-3% are counted incorrectly, then our election systems are more than 97% accurate ... on average. Isn't that an "A" on anyone's grading scale?

We measure our economic progress by GDP, so when we spend more on health care it's called "progress." When we spend more on our military, it's called "progress." When people work a lot harder and longer at slightly lower pay to increase the profits of the owners, it's called "progress."

It's all about the Average ... right? :eyes:
