I just visited the Senate Committee on Homeland security website. It states that Mr. galloway did not submit a statement. Can you believe the audicity of these crooks? We need to blast Senator Levin.

There never was a PDF from Galloway at that site that I saw, and I've visited it a few times starting on the day of the hearing. The Panel 3 PDFs have been there since at least the day of the hearing, however, and as far as I'm aware Panel 3 hasn't even convened yet (?)

Rather than being transcripts of testimony, isn't it more likely that these PDFs are prepared in advance by the people giving the statements? If you look at, say, Greenblatt's you'll notice that it contains only his statement, not questions and answers. A transcript of his testimony would contain the questions and answers.

I'm not familiar with the process involved, but it seems vastly more likely to me that the PDFs you see on the senate website are submitted in advance by the participants, for the convenience of the committee.

Since conveniencing the committee was not Galloway's goal, it is logical that he did not submit his statement in advance.

So when the page says he "did not submit a statement" it probably refers to his not submitting in advance pre-prepared paper/electronic draft of his opening statement. I don't know, but I'd guess that his testimony would be published as an annex to the final report of the committee.

In fact, I found this site when looking for reaction on the web to GG's testimony, which I watched live via bbc. I was delighted to find that the general prevailing reaction here was one that matched my own: enthused, astonished and excited (though I was perhaps a little more prepared for his performance than some here, since I'd the benefit of hearing his recent victory speech on winning his parliamentary seat, May 5 - I knew it would be out of the usual run of the mill for senate hearings. :)

All I'm trying to say is that there is most likely a *process* behind the inclusion of PDFs on the Senate site. My reasoning now, as when the absence of a Galloway PDF was first pointed out, is that the reason for said absence is likely to be found in the details of that process. Do we know what it is? Why are PDFs available for Panel 3 before their testimony?

If the PDFs are made available by the witnesses before their testimony, then it's entirely understandable that GG didn't make one available, given the nature of his statement. Who knows how his appearance might have gone if he'd given advance notice?

I'm not saying that the Committee is in any rush to spread the word on his speech, but there may be better courses of action than firing off emails demanding the reason why it was "scrubbed" when it's quite likely there are boring procedural reasons why it doesn't appear. We don't even know if he submitted anything to them in advance of the hearing; it seems likely that he didn't, and it also seems likely that the "did not submit a statement" that appears on the webpage refers to this, and isn't saying "did not make a statement." (Though he did rather impressively thwap a dossier of his statements on Saddam Hussein from 1991 onto the desk for their perusal, during it, of course.)

BTW, for anyone interested in the issue of the documentation raised against Mr Galloway, the wikipedia has an interesting summary in its Galloway page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Galloway which lets you see images of the documents They do indeed look a bit dodgy! (But the untranslated versions would be at least as important.) Apparently there are no "originals" around suitable for forensic analysis, just copies.

Or is the concern the no PDF of the 20 minutes of "opening statement" that he delivered from memory rather than from reading a statement is currently on the site. If he had submitted a statement they would have cut him off after 10 minutes. I doubt that any statement has been "removed".

He did submit other documents that the committee seems to have not - perhaps "as yet" - seen fit to list out and make available.

I wonder if he will ever submit a formal statement - I rather doubt it.

The idiot I was refering to was the Repub who was running the charade, he admitted the dosier directly, if he had a brain he would have said "of course, after review we will consider adding it" and then deep sixed it. A SCHOOLBOY move, especially after your supposed victim had just torn you a new one.

One of the many reasons I am a liberal is because I believe in the truth, whether I "like" what that truth is or not.

The opening statements for the other participants are not transcriptions of their speeches, they are their PREpared statements. Galloway didn't submit one because he wanted to ambush the hearing, something he did quite beautifully.

The committee has certainly committed many errors of both ommission and commission but "scrubbing" Galloways prepared speech isn't one of them because it is clear why he didn't submit one.

If you take the time to look at the other submissions they are clearly prepared statements not transcriptions of what they actually said.
