The public is starting to turn...
I agree that the public is beginning to see things in a new light. The Faux Network is slowly sinking, but so are the rest of the news networks--we'll see about CNN. However, none of the media are picking up on the stories, at least not without spinning them.
The news media is not looking for facts, they're looking for confrontation, which sells better than the facts. So the real story behind the facade gets swept away. They staged cockfights with right and left on opposite sides of the screen. There's an endless parade of
experts who, for fame or fortune, are more than happy to say what they're told to say. The confrontation is what sells, so that's all we get. It's all Hollywood, and no fucking facts.
So, the public
is turning. But there's a problem. They aren't turning away from just Bush. They're turning away from the whole business. On the whole they still aren't getting the facts.
And this leads me to the real problem. The way I see it, we've got only a few weeks--maybe a
very few weeks. Next week, the judicial fillibuster will be dead. Emboldened by their success and being squeezed by falling popularity, how long will it take the repugs to pull the trigger again and kill the fillibuster outright. They'll do it and we'll all be screwed.
Gawd! I
hate conspiracy theories. But I don't see any other way to interpret this. They're going to pull the trigger again, and again, and again. We need to really get moving here. We need to stay on top of things and stay organized. We need to get the word out somehow. We need to put millions of people in the streets and we need to do so as quickly as we can.
