CNN:Time: Top 25 Fascinating people
How the heck can Reagan and Bushy come ahead of Nelson Mandela.

Top 25: Fascinating people

President Reagan ushered in the modern-day conservative political movement with two terms in the 1980s. Along with his wife, Nancy, the actor-turned-politician brought back many of the formal ceremonial trappings that had been discarded during the years of Jimmy Carter. Much of the American public went along with a lot of it, taking pride in a more polished national image.

17. From the Emily Littella Files
(Emily Littella was Glida Radner's character of an old lady who didn't understand quite a few words -- with comic results.)

I half-thought it was "to vomit" or maybe "to eat".

"Never mind!"

7. Gingrich
probably belongs there as well. I don't particularly like him, but he's probably the most infulential non-presidential person since MLK.

If my boy Mr. Dean keeps his bitterness on his shoulder. He lambasted Delay today...http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/05/19/howard.dean/index.html

Dean is going to turn the party around. I am not doubting him.

(pardon the Novak link, it's all I could find...I believe the article is floating around somewhere but 14 hours on the job takes the ambition away :))

12. Journalism?
Not on CNN's part. That piece looked more like an op-ed rather than a news story.

14. The same things as Ayatollah Khomeini above him at number 3
"Why the **** would anyone want a nutter like that in charge of the country? Are they evil, or just stupid? What rat-like cunning kept them in power while they ruined their country?" They make complex, and important questions.

Why they think Reagan is fascinating, though, is beyond me. A standard, simplistic American conservative.
