Help me make a point: Discussion on SH pics in his underwear
So, I am talking to this idiot about the photo's of SH in his tighty whities and this is his reply to me:

Offensive to all Arabs?

Maybe to some, the one that already want to kill us all, but even on many of the programs it showed Arabs laughing their butts off.

To the tens of thousands of realtives of the murdered at the hands of this butcher it was a glorious event. Justice.

Most of the so called outrage is fake anyway, just an excuse to kill or hate Bush and the military

Saddam should consider himself lucky. In Mussolini’s last photo op in 1945 he was hung upside down, beaten to a bloody pulp, and shot several times.

3. my point is
is that the pics have obviously angered many people in the Middle East, which I have tried to explain, but apparently unsuccesfully. I'm just asking for some help from my fellow DU'ers to drive my point home.

4. well, I googled "Saddam pictures" underwear anger
and got this:

Gulf media outraged at Saddam pictures
Saturday, 21 May , 2005, 16:50
http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=13805377

"...Pictures of nearly naked Saddam published to humiliate the Iraqi resistance," headlined Manama's Al-Ayyam, one of two Bahraini dailies which chose to front page the images.

Unlike Gulf counterparts, newspapers in the United Arab Emirates played down the pictures, mostly burying them in inside pages, with Dubai-based Al-Bayan headlining that the episode is "reminiscent of the Abu Ghraib scandal."

In an editorial, Abu Dhabi-based Akhbar al-Arab slammed the British "yellow press" which thrives on "scandal and sensationalism," wondering if the pictures were meant to "spite Arab society". ..."

Except they apparently love it in Kuwait:

"Nowhere did the photographs get more prominent play than in Kuwait, which was occupied by Iraqi forces for seven months in 1990-1991, and which served as the main launchpad for the US-led invasion of Iraq which toppled Saddam in 2003."

So I don't know that you can argue the "all Arabs" point, sorry.
