My co-worker's vehicular malfunction has led to a recall |
|
My manager at work has a brand new 2005 Mazda Tribute. She was driving to work the other day and the accelerator stuck. She had to put the vehicle in neutral to slow down because the brakes wouldn't work. Eventually, she had to turn the thing off to stop.
I can vouch she was totally freaked out that morning. So they came and got the Tribute and found out there is an engine cover on that type of vehicle. A piece broke off from the engine cover and lodged in the accelerator mechanism.
The car salespeople were going to take a replacement cover off of a brand new vehicle that had not even been driven off the lot yet and found the engine cover broken in the same spot.
So now they have to recall. End of story.

3. Scary....Good thing she had the presence of mind |
|
to put it in neutral and shut it off.
I once had a steering wheel fall off as I was making a turn. That was fun.

If you know anyone with one, give them the heads up.
No telling how long it will take to actually get out information wise.

10. I work for an auto auction... on the Ford account. |
|
Hubby owns a Ford truck. We usually get the recall notices at work about 2-3 months before we get the "official" notice from Ford at home.
