Toronto police are warning the public that a fugitive from the U.S. wanted in the slaying of his wife may be in the GTA area, or in cottage country.

Daniel Hiers, 33, is a former police officer in Charleston, S.C., who was fired because of sexual criminal conduct with a minor.

Hiers is 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, with fair skin, blond hair and blue eyes.

It is alleged that he shot his wife with his service revolver. He was out on bail from the sex offence.

He is believed armed and has a bullet-proof vest.
