Bush on the outs with the militaary ...
-snip-

"I once believed that I served for a cause: 'To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States'. Now I no longer believe that," Tim Predmore, a member of the 101st Airborne Division serving near Mosul, wrote in a blistering opinion piece this week for his home newspaper, the Peoria Journal Star in Illinois. "I can no longer justify my service for what I believe to be half-truths and bold lies."

Ouch.

1. Unfortunately it takes the BRITISH press to bring us that news
Our American media (mass media) has truly sold us and the troops out.

Thanks for nothing all you corporate media cowards.

2. God help Tim
The military and the administration will now preside over a Machiavellian ritual of public shaming and abuse. All to ensure future silence.

11. I wouldn't say brainwashed
That smacks of elitism. And I don't agree with that. But what I think it has to do is with perception.

19. Argh!!! They ARE brainwashed, and it has nothing to do with
"elitism" it's about a functional military chain of command.

Go watch a Basic Training schedule for a week...better yet, hit a reception point and stay there for a week, then come back and tell me it isn't brainswashing, ok?

Like it or not, agree with it or not, Military training, at least in the USA, employs ALL the basic techniques used by cults and other "brainswashing" efforts. You are stripped of everything familiar and forced to engage in a group-think mentality. Those are FACTS not wild eyed accusations. It's brainwashing!

5. So what, what percentage of the military votes in presidential elections?
I am guessing it is pretty low considering the twin factors of class issues and being stationed outside the United States. If half the 130,000 troops in Iraq would have voted for Gore in 2000 we wouldn't be having this discussion.

7. well I'd be pissed too if I was fighting an unjust and ILLEGAL war
let's face it, this idiot stole an election, has lost millions of jobs, made up phony evidence to go to war, with his sidekick, mr. cardiac arrest, and has sent our troops into harm's way for no good reason....and had this bonehead ordered me into combat, I would be on the outs with him too. I doubt the military in general hates either 41 or 43 (obviously it'll be a while before dumbshit jr. gets an aircraft carrier named after himself) especially with their massive defense spending, but there is certainly a rise in anger in a lot of guys who wonder what the hell they are doing in freakin iraq, and it's certainly justified, heck they hate that chicken hawk rummy even more than they hate bush, I can tell you that much

8. Impeach Bush!
We have a hundred times more the grounds to impeach Bush than the rabid right had for impeaching Clinton.

17. Mike Malloy read this on the air last night.
I cried. It kills me that our troops have to question themselves like this, and yet no soldier with a conscience (which is most of them btw) can help it.
