If JFK were alive today, this is what he'd say to our leaders
Edited on Sat May-28-05 10:25 PM by ailsagirl
Theodore Sorenson, John F Kennedy's brilliant speechwriter, wrote this timely piece:

TOMORROW WOULD have been John F. Kennedy's 88th birthday. Were he still alive, I have no doubt that, with his customary idealism and commitment to country, he would still be offering advice to our current leaders in Washington. Based upon his words of more than 40 years ago, he might well offer the following:

To President George W. Bush on Iraq, Iran, and North Korea: "The United States, as the world knows, will never start a war. This generation of Americans has had enough -- more than enough -- of war." (American University commencement, 1963)

To Vice President Dick Cheney on international organizations, alliances, and consultations: "The United States is neither omnipotent nor omniscient. We are only 6 percent of the world's population . . . we cannot impose our will upon the other 94 percent of mankind." (University of Washington, 1961)

To Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on terrorism: "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." (Inaugural address, 1961)

1. The brilliant JFK might offer that advice to "those 3"
but the 3 you mentioned would just roll their eyes and utter "liberal" under their breath.

3. The 3 would question his patriotism and suggest that he didn't deserve
his medals received in WWII

Then they'd hit him on his private life and by then everything he said would be forgotten

2. Great post
The Bushies should be ashamed of themselves for forgetting what true American ideals are. JFK had the guts to stand up to the USSR with all their nuclear power during the Cuban crisis.

Bush had the guts to perform shock and awe on a third world country that was never a threat to our security.

4. It is amazing how different the world would probably be
has JFK not been assassinated.
If JFK had not been assassinated, I would like to believe that MLK and RFK would still be alive, the people responsible for all would be behind bars, thus we would not have these people in power.
Those assassinations were setting things up for the way things are today.

7. It's really true-- what a tragedy. Why is it all the great leaders
Edited on Sun May-29-05 11:56 AM by ailsagirl
are "taken out?" What a loss-- for all of us.

Plans were in place to start withdrawing our troops from Vietnam, which would have happened in December of 1963. Well, needless to say...

He also, God forbid, wanted to stop nuclear proliferation, as well as take away a great deal of the CIA's power.

Yes, what a menace

10. All the Kennedy's have had this gift of knowing the right course to follow
That is why our current leaders keep having them accidented. JFK junior had the potential to derail this presidents new world order and that is EXACTLY why his plane went down. Anyone that STILL believes that plane crash was an "accident" just doesn't get it. There will NEVER be a people's president in the White House until the sheeple wake the hell up and DEMAND their government act in a humane way for the sake of humanity EVERYWHERE.

14. Potentially
how would John Jr. have done that?

"...until the sheeple wake the hell up and DEMAND their government act in a humane way for the sake of humanity EVERYWHERE."

That's why they convinced everyone "greed is good" and "MeFirst!MeMeGimmegimmeMeMeMeMe!." If the sheeple don't care about "the sake of humanity" next door, let alone "everywhere," they'll continue to toe the line. And forget "united we stand" forever.

15. Agreed 100%!
I am adding the latest DVD to my collection of giveaways. As soon as I can get hold of a copy I am going to burn hundreds and start passing them out.

I am FINALLY seeing some of those sheeple stop and take a listen. The glazed look in their eyes is slowly dissipating. Without a doubt I am an optimist but I think I'm right about this. It seems we are beginning to seek each other out and figure out ways to get others to hear what we have to say. Americans are aware that SOMETHING doesn't feel right about things.

Whatever JFK would say today
would be coming out of his mouth
from his mind

not out of a wire
from an undisclosed location.

He wrote books as well. How does "Profiles in Courage" stack up next to "My Pet Goat"?

When he died, that's when it ended; that's when it started.
