Injured boxer in coma following surgery
LOS ANGELES - Boxer Ruben Contreras is in critical condition in a coma today after surgery to relieve pressure from bleeding on his brain.

The Mexican flyweight suffered a seizure shortly after he quit during the sixth round of a fight in Los Angeles last night.

Trauma surgeon Doctor David Duarte of California Medical Center said the surgery was performed quickly enough to avoid permanent brain damage.

than athletes in any other sport. It should be manditory.

....but that's a chance they knowingly take when they get into that business. Sad, but not unexpected.
