This may be repost, but I think it may be worth repeating.
Leave My Child Alone! Protect Our High School Students From Unwanted Military Recruiting
Hidden in the No Child Left Behind Act is a provision known as section 9528 that requires public high schools to hand over private student information to military recruiters. If a school does not comply, it risks losing federal education funds. This breach of privacy gives recruiters access to addresses and phone numbers, allowing them to actively call and visit teens at home. Parents must send Opt Out letters to their schools' superintendent to stop release of information.
ACORN begins the Leave My Child Alone! campaign this spring in partnership with Working Assets and The MMOB (Mainstreet Moms Operation Blue) to educate parents about the military recruiting provision of No Child Left Behind, aid parent organizations, and provide support for the Student Privacy Protection Act of 2005.
Go to LeaveMyChildAlone.org to find tools for identifying appropriate school district officials to target with Opt Out letters, other parents interested in working together, and other ways to protect children from unwanted recruiting.
