4. Yes
There was an excellent post by someone who had just gotten back about a month ago. He was unequivocal. The signs are everywhere; pipelines, construction, tankers. Bases being built. Far more effort being spent on oil production than infrastructure.

15. Also
if you haven't visit http://www.gregpalast.com and watch his segment from "Newsweek" (or Newsnight? whatever it's called) he did on Iraq and oil. A lot of good information there! It explains a lot of stuff. Why else did Halliburton "win" contracts to rebuild the oil there? It's worth four million dollars.

12. Do the math
We're stuck there, according to Sen McCain (as quoted in Bob Herbert's column "Heads in the sand") for ten twenty years.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10A16F738550C708CDDA00894DC404482

With a world supply of 1 trillion barrels of oil, and a daily consumption of 80 million barrels (a very conservative estimate) you end up with about 35 years of oil left in the world.

Where are they going to go after 35 years God only knows.

17. The neocons are also
very pro-Israel. They also want to make it to where Israel is the leading country in the middle east. If you haven't visit http://www.informationclearinghouse.info and watch the doc "The War Party" which is about the neocons. It's from a British reporter who even talks to a few of them.

review called "move israel" ----for its own safety, to Wyoming IIRC.

seems like a fresh and practical idea. no long-term safety where it is now, for sure. Sooner or later, all nations in that area will have nukes, and then......

19. Oil, Israel, the Apocalypse, asshole male need to "show them who's boss"
Revenge for defying Daddy...there are all sorts of things.

Oil, of course, is the prime mover. Although pro-Israeli (PNAC) hatred for Hussein is not to be discounted as a broad-spectrum impetus, Oil (read: MONEY) is the amplifier that keeps on giving.

Throw in some Muslim-hating Fundy Christian frenzies here and there, and it's a fine and heady brew.

Greed and religion: the precursors of most of mankind's historical and continuing ugliness.
