I hope this isn't a dup (I couldn't find this particular article elsewhere on DU).
The blustery Scot Galloway stood before the U.S. Senate's Committee on Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs (what a joke) and spoke the plain, unvarnished TRUTH. The article reads:
Sounding more like enthusiastic theater reviews than news stories, reports in the British press couldn't resist the riveting Capitol Hill performance by George Galloway, the Scottish-born member of Parliament from the new Respect party who had come to Washington to address U.S. government officials who had accused him of illicitly profiting from the United Nations' oil-for-food program. As he defended himself before the U.S. Senate's Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, he also delivered a hard-hitting critique of George W. Bush's Iraq policy, the language and ferocity of which are rarely heard in the somber chambers of Congress.
"I gave my heart and soul to stop you committing the disaster that you did commit in invading Iraq," he said confidently, picking up steam as he spoke. "I told the world that Iraq, contrary to your claims, did not have weapons of mass destruction. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to al Qaeda. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to the atrocity on 9-11-2001. ... In everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right, and you turned out to be wrong, and 100,000 people paid with their lives, 1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies, 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies.http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/g/a/2005/05/24/worldviews.DTLOh, to have a statesman of his ilk here!!
