Bush to hold press conference shortly
Opening statement will be about economy

The Associated Press
Updated: 9:41 a.m. ET May 31, 2005

WASHINGTON - President Bush is keeping his second-term pledge to hold at least one full-blown news conference each month.

He was squeezing one in on Tuesday, the last day of May, starting at 10:45 a.m. ET. The White House said he would open with a statement declaring that the nation’s economy was strong and getting stronger.

The session in the Rose Garden would be Bush’s first full-scale news conference since April 28 when he held a prime-time meeting with reporters in the East Room.

<</SNIP>>

The administration was like "oh shit, we promised to do it every month"... With * saying, "please don't make go out there guys..."

Will some one have the guts to ask about the Downing Street memo?

1. Economy: No one believes bu$hit's Rosy Picture...it's bu$hit
From emad in another post:

Bush's Rosy View of Economy Doesn't Mesh With Public Perception

May 31 (Bloomberg) -- Ellen Westbrook, an employment counselor in Asheville, North Carolina, says she just rolls her eyes when she hears about how the U.S. economy is strong and getting stronger.

``I've seen 300 manufacturing jobs disappear down here in the last three weeks,'' she says. ``How can I think the economy is good when I am watching high-paying jobs disappear overseas?''

90. Someone on Conyers blog
mentioned how she lived in Florida and in her county 3,000 people were unemployed and poor! 3,000 people in one county!!! Imagine what the whole number is in the US. Does anybody know? When I tell that to rightwingers I get the old "we're in a recession" bullshit.

12. Q: you said that invading Iraq would deter nuclear development
by other countries. In the case of Iran and N. Korea that seems to be the opposite. Why is that true?

A: We're working on it and making progress. N. Korea violated agreement. It's good to have China and other countries saying the same thing as US to N. Korea.

We want diplomacy to work.

So no one is held in prison in the US, ever, 'til convicted? Right. Got it.

Christian Evangelism is only compatibe with itself, and those who are attacked by it should not be required to finance their bullshit through tax exemptions.

Of course he'll veto. He's not up for re-election next term so he's still applying to the fundie base. Forget the elderly and everybody else who has a disease that can be healed by stem cell research. This is why a lot of republicans did vote for it because they know this and I think a lot of them do want this as well. Now if Bush veto's this bill he could lose some republicans in the Senate/Congress.
