(allegedly) US in talks with Saddam ...
I was just listening to BBC radio & they were doing a brief review of Sunday newspaper's main stories. One of them has a front page story along the lines of ...

The US in Iraq have been negotiating a surrender with Saddam for the past nine days. It is believed that he is offering up people in exchange for safe passage to a third country & freedom from prosecution.

Now my initial reaction is bullshit (& frustratingly not hearing which newspaper has this story doesn't help -- if it's a tabloid (News of the World, Mirror, Mail or Express) then it almost certainly is bullshit) -- though there maybe a kernel of truth there. I'm sure that there was more to the surrender of Saddam's Defence Minister yesterday then we're being told (either in terms of him being an agent for us during the war, or offering something else in return for exemption from prosecution).

Anyway, I just thought I'd offer this up to the fold. I'm sure if there is anything to this story that it'll be picked up when the (sadly mystery for now) paper's first editions are off the press.

2. Looks like Rove just found his poll booster
I am sure they would do anything to get sadddam, they are so desperate for good news. I hope if they get him, it's now, so that by January Bush* will be right back in the toilet.

3. If I'm Saddam, I take that deal...

It would be a HUGE failure for the Bushistas. Saddam sits somewhere in Syria or Saudi Arabia for a year or two, and then when the US troops leave he does his Napoleon circa 1814 impersonation and voila!

Time to renew Baath Party memberships for a lot of Iraqis.
