T. McAuliffe needs to stop saying that the 2004 election will be close |
|
And all those other Democrats, as well.
Stop agreeing with Republicans who say that they expect the 2004 presidential election to be close. First of all, haven't you learned that agreeing with Republicans rarely turns out well and second of all, who cares what they think? You should start saying that it's beginning to look like a substantial Democratic victory. And act like you mean what you say.
Why are you playing their game of low expectations for Democrats? A close election would be the result of a mildly successful presidency; not a disaster of sweeping magnitude. I think even Churchill got the boot. It's time to break out of the box and reset the bar. I swear, the next Democrat who publically says that they expect the 2004 election to be close should just get out of politics altogether.

1. I understand your point, but we don't want to rile up the repugs. |
|
Key to winning is getting out the vote. I mean, we need to get Dems out (they need to get repugs out). If you have people believing it's a runaway, they might stay home. It's best to be the underdog (at least in the minds of the voters).

3. We're not at the get out the vote point yet. |
|
I hear Republicans talking either a close election or a sweep. I just don't see how having Democrats calling things close is going to further drive down Bush support. When you do, you are acknowledging that a large percentage of the population is still on his side and that validates what people are thinking. It's time to take out the chisel and the hammer and divide them up.

Do you think the gop raises money by saying Hillary is merely the junior Senator from New York? Hell no! They tell them that she is about to take over the world and she will if they don't pitch in to stop the Beast. And she'll eat their children in the process.

4. Let them know now that their 200 million is going down the tubes |
|
And next time someone asks a Democrat about the "fundraiser in chief" they should say that he's going to need that 200 million to fight against the will of the people.

the prediction only validates the repugs as worthy opponents. Rove put out the idea that America was headed for recession when it was not, but the meme became all powerful and created reality in the end, Rove also predicted * would win by a large margin (when many polls showed otherwise)because he knew that people usually want to be in the winners corner. McAuliffe should put out the meme that * is a disaster that's GOING DOWN!

6. Why the f*ck would you want to do anything NUT what Terry is |
|
doing?
Do you actually WANT to lose? Terry is doing what good party chairs always do: it will be close, very close so make sure you get out there and vote!!!!
So you wanna tell the Democratic voters, "don't worry about it? Bush is toast." Jebus!

9. Not only do I not want to lose, I don't expect it either. |
|
I want a real effort to bring more people over to our side. I'm tired of a leadership that simply concedes about half the voting population to the Republicans. Those people do not represent half the voting population so why do we simply let them have them.

10. The problem is, it's always hard to beat un incumbent |
|
even if he's a total incompetent like Bush. Rove won't let him go down without a HUGE fight. Saying it's going to be close is being realistic, at this point at least.
