OMG, did my boyfriend help get John Kerry talking about the Downing Memo?!
2 weeks ago we got a fundraising call from the "Friends of John Kerry". My bf was pretty mad at the 100-0 passage of the REAL ID act and that no one was talking about the Memo except the online community. So he kind of let the guy have it heh and brought up the Downing Street Memo, he posted about it tonight on his blog:

Alright, bear with me a bit here - I’m a bit “shy” when it comes to writing in this style… but I’ve got an interesting little story here…

May 17th 2005 7:41pm my household gets a call from one of Mr. John Kerry’s fundraisers (The friends of John Kerry to be exact). Now at this point in time I was seething over the recent passing of HR1268 with the lovely RealID attached (which went through 100-0 because it was a damn military/tsunami aide bill… $80 some-odd billion!), and had a bit of a rant planned for them.

Let me tell you I *unloaded* on this poor guy. But one topic I touched on may or may not have cause some kind of action…

I had brought up the Downing Street Memo and how I was mad as hell that nothing had been said about it. I even gave that poor guy some leads on the net to educate himself because get this - He hadn’t heard a thing about it. Then I went off on the fact that of course he had not heard about it - the media had been trying to bury the story while the rest of the world seems pretty pissed off about it.

After my rant i told the guy on the other end that i wasn’t angry with him personally, and that I was sorry for getting a little “loud”.
He thanked me for the leads and promised to read up on the topics i pointed out, and i then kindly asked him to remove me from his calling list.

Anyway - it comes to my attention today that John Kerry is going to make some noise on Monday about this.

“When I go back (to Washington) on Monday, I am going to raise the issue,” he said of the memo, which has not been disputed by either the British or American governments. “I think it’s a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home. And it’s amazing to me the way it escaped major media discussion. It’s not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that.”

Whoa.

Whoa indeed! I was here when the conversation took place and it would be pretty cool if that staffer relayed it to the Senator :D

1. Partially
Hundreds, perhaps thousands contacted Kerry, and he listened.

3. I recently got a fundraiser call from his folks, too. I told 'em
that I was very disappointed in Kerry's quick concession of the election and failure to uncover the facts about the election being stolen in Ohio, that if he would get on the ball on that I might donate again.
