It has come to my attention that an "anti-Andy Stephenson" domain

has been registered in my name.

Some clown, (J'Accuse, Bev Harris!) has registered or had a stooge register the domain scamdy.com. "Scamdy" is the childish nickname freepers have created for Andy in their vile postings at FR and CU.

I can only assume the intent of this person was to create a site mokcing or attacking Andy, then when the WhoIs registry was checked, it would look like I was being disloyal and we would have another 600 post thread arguing the evidence for and against me.

The end result, more discord and mistrust at DU, Bev Harris and her fellow Freepers laughing their ass off at my expense.

The registration info has my home address (which is not used in my other domain registrations) and uses a phone number I only give to my artists and writers. Of all the people who would know that number, only Bev knew the number had a connection to Andy and "scamdy".

I will know soon enough since the person who registered the domain still had to pay with their credit card. I have contacted the registrar and my attorney. I am exploring legal action and what laws may have been broken.

I WILL prosecute!

It is against the ICANN (icann.org) policies to provide a registrar with false WHOIS information. It violates the terms of registration and is grounds for cancellation. It seems to me that this bevbot registered the domain with the host (all the registrar and host names resolve back to the same company), so at least you only have one company to deal with.

My first inclination would be to contact them and ask for access to "your" account (claiming you lost the username/pass and no longer have access to that gmail account), even providing a fax of your license for verification of your identity. It's probably too late for that now, but it might have worked. :)

I looked through the terms of service and that scamdy site violates several and it should be grounds for termination of the account.

I would also get every single person whose picture is posted on that site to write and complain about copyright infringement([e-mail] and [e-mail]) as well. Many hosts will shut down sites that cause any problems immediately after a couple of complaints..this is like a 5/mo account, it's no big loss to them and not worth the trouble to keep hosting it.

frankly I don't get the obsession on FR and CU - and when the action turned to trying to prevent payment ... that is trying to prevent the operation... it crossed the line to sinister. Even if they honestly believed it was a scam... one would think that any decent human being would not work to prevent - even if they thought the potential was remote - a person from receiving a possibly life-saving procedure...

Apparently, someone realized their stupidity....however, it is STILL against that host's TOS to register a domain with false info (they are a member of ICANN) and 555 is not a valid area code (duh). It is also STILL against that host's TOS to have a site dedicated to defaming someone and of course, there is that old pesky copyright issue on photos of various people.

I think the best thing now is for multiple people to complain in writing and on the phone (they have a 1800 number I think?). I have already sent off an email to [e-mail] citing the domain name, the NEW and obvious fake registration information, the abuse of their terms of service and a request that the site be terminated. If they do not comply, the host opens itself up to legal action for the contents of the site.
