Another dot? Dr David Kelly WMD expert, found dead...(DSM)
Body 'matches' Iraq expert

snip>

The government says an independent judicial inquiry will be held into the circumstances of his death if the body is confirmed to be that of the MoD adviser.

The discovery was made at 0920 BST by a member of the police team searching for Dr Kelly in a wooded area at Harrowdown Hill, near Faringdon.

Dr Kelly, 59, had been caught up in a row between the BBC and the government about the use of intelligence reports in the run-up to the war with Iraq.

On Tuesday he told the Foreign Affairs select committee he had spoken to BBC reporter Andrew Gilligan but denied he was the main source for a story about claims that a dossier on Iraq had been "sexed up". More here...

Dr David Kelly
From Wikipedia,

Involvement with the WMD dossier
Kelly's specialism led to confusion about his actual job as he was frequently seconded to other departments. His job description included liaison with the media and he regularly acted as a confidential source, although rarely going on the record or appearing on-camera. In 2002, he was working for the Defence Intelligence Staff at the time of the compilation of a dossier by the Joint Intelligence Committee on the weapons of mass destruction possessed by Iraq. The government had commissioned the dossier as part of the preparation of what later became the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Although not responsible for writing any part of the dossier, Kelly's experience of weapons inspections led to him being asked to proofread sections of the draft dossier on the history of inspections. Kelly was unhappy with some of the claims in the draft, particularly a claim, originating from August 2002, that Iraq was capable of firing battlefield biological and chemical weapons within 45 minutes of an order to use them. Kelly's colleagues queried the inclusion of the claim but their superiors were satisfied when they took it up with MI6 through the Joint Intelligence Committee.

1. More on Dr Kelly...
David Kelly

Biological weapons expert with a reputation for thoroughness

Nigel Fountain and Sarah A Smith
Saturday July 19, 2003
The Guardian

Before this year's Iraq war, the microbiologist David Kelly, who has died aged 59, would recall that, with Saddam Hussein's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, the pattern of his life for the ensuing decade had been set. Ironically, his spectacularly professional work in Iraq in the 1990s, was to suck him towards a media and political quagmire.
Kelly was the Ministry of Defence's chief scientific officer and senior adviser to the proliferation and arms control secretariat, and to the Foreign Office's non-proliferation department. The senior adviser on biological weapons to the UN biological weapons inspections teams (Unscom) from 1994 to 1999, he was also, in the opinion of his peers, pre-eminent in his field, not only in this country, but in the world.

After the eviction of the Iraqis from Kuwait in 1991, the UN invited Kelly to join Unscom to force Saddam into compliance with the peace agreements. Kelly made 36 visits to Iraq, and, from New York, continued his work into the late 1990s. What made him the obvious candidate for such work was his earlier, and continuing, experience in Russia. In autumn 1989, he had been called in to assist MI6 in debriefing Vladimir Pasechnik, a leading Soviet biochemist and defector.

Eighteen months later, armed with Pasechnik's evidence of a gross violation of the 1972 biological weapons convention, Kelly co-led the US/British delegation to inspect suspect Russian sites. His sympathetic manner was an asset: at Vektor laboratories in Novosibirsk, Siberia, a researcher mentioned that the lab was studying the smallpox virus - in contravention of WHO regulations and the biological weapons convention. This was a major discovery, which revealed the seriousness of the Soviet undertaking. Later, he was an observer on the reciprocal trip the Russians made to the US. More.....

THE STRANGE "SUICIDE" OF DAVID KELLY:
Questions for the coroner's inquest

by Renan Talieva

With the release of his report last month, Lord Brian Hutton pronounced the death of scientist David Kelly a suicide. But the evidence given at the inquiry does not substantiate the finding. It is not yet known exactly how he died.

Members of the medical community and the general public are beginning to express growing skepticism about the stated cause of death. In response to their concerns, Oxfordshire coroner Nicholas Gardiner will hold a hearing in March to determine if 'exceptional reasons' compel him to reopen the original inquest. <1>

There is more than adequate cause to question the current interpretation of the scientist's demise, as set forth by the Hutton report (HR) and the public record of the Hutton inquiry (HI). The official version can be summarized as follows.

Between 3.00 and 3.20 pm on 17 July 2003, Dr Kelly left his Oxfordshire residence after telling his wife he was going for his regular walk. At about 9.20 am on 18 July, his body was found by volunteer searchers in a wooded area on Harrowdown Hill. On the body was a mobile telephone, glasses, key fob, and three 10-tablet blister packs of coproxamol with 1 tablet remaining. Near the body was a Barbour cap, wristwatch, Sandvig knife, and half-litre bottle of water. More.....

3. We need to drag out all the connections we can find!
I'd been thinking about Dr Kelly since Bush and Blair's pow-wow with the press!

Anyone who gets in the holy new world order's way is toast!

backing up the claim of "sexing up" the UK Iraq dossier which led to the Hutton Inquiry and, arguably, to Kelly's death.

WMD Expert Reopens Row About 'Sexed-Up' Dossier
by Colin Brown

A letter by the head of MI6 allegedly seeking to "sex up" a dossier on Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction should be released under the Freedom Of Information Act, the former head of the MoD intelligence branch said last night.

Brian Jones, ex-head of the Defence Intelligence Staff, spoke out after Rod Barton, an Australian member of the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), reopened the dispute over the "sexing up" of the government dossier on WMD that led to the suicide of David Kelly, another weapons specialist.

Dr Barton, a microbiologist who worked for Australian intelligence for more than 20 years, said John Scarlett, then head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, asked for "new elements" to be included in a draft report he was producing on the WMD in Iraq. The head of the ISG, Charles Duelfer, refused.

Dr Barton told Australia's ABC TV: "Both Washington and London wanted other things put in to make it - I can only use these words - to make it sexier.

...

That story (which continues) was from the Independent (UK) http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/story.jsp?story=611494 but you have to pay to read it there now.

It is, however, freely available at: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0216-06.htm

Scarlett was made head of MI6, shortly after the conclusion of the Hutton inquiry.

Sigh.

(edit: mistake - I should have read the story - it does allege US intel fixing!)

7. I think of all the deaths of the micro-biologists a lot. Getting
confirmation of our 'knowledge' that the war was concocted to take Iraq, it makes you wonder if they got rid of other scientists who wouldn't go along with stretching the truth or those who might have been future whistleblowers...or if there is something even worse that is going to happen.

Let me blunt...we have some victim-martyrs here. And the lions are just keep getting hungrier.

These leaders have created a ruling class from hell.

where the conspiracy leads, follow the trail of the dead. There are lots of dead bodies in micro-biology. Dr. Kelly has always been on my mind along with that cover up. Puzzle pieces coming together, these people give me the creeps. :scared: :hide:

12. And the Pentagon had the secret crew of civilians the (OSP)
who were doing all the secret planning and scheming leading up to the war in Iraq, without as much as a speck of congressional oversight!

They <"Office Of Special Planning"> were the ones talking up the war to the media on all the Sunday talking head shows and to congress, about Iraqi oil financing the entire conflict from start to finish. They were the ones predicting rose petals in Baghdad! They were the ones who said they knew just how to set up the new Iraqi "Democracy" ASAP, once Saddam was taken out! They were the ones who knew exactly where Saddam's WMDs were stashed! They knew all about the "Nuclear Threat" to the planet that Iraq had become!

Who all was in that secret pentagon group who were so busy operating(conspiring)completely under the radar, without congressional oversight, contrary to the law of the land? What do the neocons who advised and schemed at the Pentagon before and during the invasion of Iraq, have to say about all the "Sexing Up" now in retrospect?

I really see nothing very "sexy" about a total load of BULLSHIT, but then I ain't from Texas! The entire war in Iraq is "Sexed Up"! This country is "Sexed Up"! Everything the neocons touch is "Sexed Up"! Bush is the most "sexed up" mother"sexer" I ever saw! If you think the deal in Iraq is "Sexed Up", wait till you see this "Sexing" story!

Is Iran Next?

The Pentagon neocons who brought you the war in Iraq have a new target

By Tom Barry

An Iranian man passes by an anti-U.S. mural on a wall of the former U.S. embassy in Tehran.

Shortly after 9/11, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith began coordinating Pentagon planning for an invasion of Iraq. The challenge facing Feith, the No. 3 civilian in the Defense Department, was to establish a policy rationale for the attack. At the same time, Feith’s ideological cohorts in the Pentagon began planning to take the administration’s “global war on terrorism,” not only to Baghdad, but also to Damascus and Tehran.

In August it was revealed that one of Feith’s Middle East policy wonks, Lawrence Franklin, shared classified documents—including a draft National Security Presidential Directive formulated in Feith’s office that outlines a more aggressive U.S. national security strategy regarding Iran—with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Israeli officials. The FBI is investigating the document transfer as a case of espionage.

This spy scandal raises two concerns for U.S. diplomats and foreign policy experts from across the political spectrum. One, that U.S. Middle East policy is being directed by neoconservative ideologues variously employed, coordinated or sanctioned by Feith’s Pentagon office. And two, that U.S. Middle East policy is too closely aligned with that of Israeli hardliners close to U.S. neoconservatives.

Feith is joined in reshaping a U.S. foreign Middle East policy—one that mirrors or complements the policies of the hardliners in Israel—by a web of neoconservative policy institutes, pressure groups and think tanks. These include the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies (IASPS), Center for Security Policy (CSP) and the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA)—all groups with which Feith has been or still is closely associated.
